Yeah, that'll be my avatar for the summer of 2017. Ah well

We are going to start seeing more of this with 30+ year old players as teams are investing the majority of their salary cap into younger core players.

I believe the bet says for the 17-18 season, not the summer of 17.

If I change it now, it's welching on the original bet.

I'm sure no one would mind if you kept it for the whole season instead.

David Jones made probably $9M more than he should have over his career - enjoy Switzerland.

Why are people always so angry, and then in turn seemingly so satisfied and almist take pleasure when a player they deem overpaid in the past can no longer find work. It's almost like D Jones personally miss treated some of you.

I get it cases like maybe ay Evander Kane where there are behavioural issues. As fans we pay our hard earned money which in the end pays these guys, so if we seem them as pissing it away and not putting up the effort, I get the frustration and subsequent feeling of vindication when it finally catches up with them.

But with someone like Jones, while the results weren't consistently what we'd hope, as far as I can tell he always put forth an earnest effort and tried to help the club. Don't get me wrong, glad we aren't overpaying him anymore, but what's with the don't let the door hit you in butt attitude some have?

I think Jone's attitude post-trade rubbed certain people the wrong way. Seemed quite happy to leave Calgary in interviews and noticably turned up the intensity in his play while he was on the Wild.

An interesting article about the David Jones contract at the time. As it turned out 45 points was the top of his career and got the Flames to somehow take on this contract (and O'Brian too).

He became victim of a bad contract signed at his peak, and was also the result of a mediocre trade but he was ok. He just wasn't 4 million dollars ok.

No he didn't turn up the intensity after the trade. He was awful in Minnesota.

He'd requested a trade, of course he was happy to leave. Last years' Flames sucked.

I sincerely hope he enjoys playing in Switzerland. Having made $16+ million over my career, I would much rather play in the Swiss league for 300K than desperately try to hang onto the NHL.

But I say that as someone with no passion, ambition or skills.
