How come there's no Vladdy Hockey for the Oil?

I wouldn't be excited for this tournament either if my team had zero depth at just about every position outside of the top picks gifted to them for being perpetually terrible.

It's a treat to watch the Flames' defense in this tournament thinking as good as they are there's a guy like Hickey in the wings too.

Pretty exciting to see gems like a sixth round pick in Mangiapani turning into viable prospects.

I understand the thought behind picking one of these giants every draft in the hope we'll get lucky.

Even so Bruce feels like a huge waste of a pick.

Calgary should kill that Oiler roster.

I agree. Seems like Kanzig without the physicality, which at that point why...

As long as your using 7th rounders on them go for it. Hopefully Falkovsky pans out.

It hurts because they invited this guy to dev camp the same year, Phillippe Myers who was the same height and probably might have been a coin flip with Bruce.

Myers was then invited by the Flyers to Training Camp where he scored himself a contract.

Myers ended up exploding in the QMJHL and is now a top defense prospect.

We ended up with Riley Bruce.

It's especially weird considering how Treliving has assembled his defense.

Gio, Brodie Hamilton, the Swedes and Fox in this system, it's like what about Kanzig/Bruce is a fit for that?

With him "exploding", Myers chances of being an NHLer are still same as Bruces. Both are long shots. Bruce made strides last year, not every player is going to be an offensive dynamo. At worse, he might be useful at the AHL level in few years.
