Hmmm...The battle for Ukraine is going poorly for the Ukrainians I see, they're already Russians apparently.
Well, they more or less were in everything but name already I suppose.
Carry on.

If the flames did offer Jones a PTO, Zero chance he makes this team going into the season. He was useless last year and the Flames have a bunch of younger players who can do much more.

Jones and Higgins would have to out perform all of Poirier, Jankowski, Tkachuk, Shinkaruk, Pribyl and Eat Bread to really have a shot because the 4th line is already filled out.
All I can say is good luck to them.

The bolded will likely be playing top 6 minutes in Stockton instead of toiling on the 4th line (unless they can steal a top 9 spot). Higgins and Jones are good place holders on the 4th line

Canucks added three PTOs yesterday.
With the addition of split squad preseason games and vets off at the world cup most teams will do this in order to fill the required veteran clause and avoid burning out their players.
If a guy surprises though, no harm done in keeping him.
Nothing to get in a lather about.

I'm surprised Chicago hasn't signed a bunch of PTOs yet. Half their NHL roster is at the World Cup.
Maybe their preseason schedule is light enough that they're not worried. They only have 6 preseason games, and no split-squad games. They also don't play their first preseason game until the 28th, so they'll only have a maximum of 4 players still at the World Cup by then.

Tuomo Ruutu, James Sheppard, and Kevin Carr.
Ruutu is the only one who played in the NHL last season. Sheppard played in the Swiss league last year and Carr is a goalie who played in the ECHL.

Grossman is a much better option than Nakladal IMO. We have plenty of guys who can shoot and create offense from the back end. Not many great shut down defenseman.
I recall him being pretty good on the PK as well. Which we could obviously use.

He's better at playing shutdown than Russell or Wideman but that doesn't mean he's actually any good at it. I guarantee that one of Wotherspoon or Kulak would do a better job in the #6 spot.

If we still had Russel on the roster, I would've said they were helping him learn the goalie position better.

Honestly not sure where to put this, but people were asking about Smid and today Ryan Leslie reported that he's on the ice skating with the other Flames members that are in town.
I guess since we were talking defensemen it seemed appropriate to leave it here.

So what did we learn from that hero chart? They each have some blue and some orange?
So they are both Oiler-quality?

You're the only one who's mentioned this anywhere on the internet. It's been 2 days now. Care to tell your source??

I think you should start watching some hockey if this is actually what you think...
Been watching any WC? Nakladal has been a great top-4 shutdown defender for the Czechs. Just because he has a cannon of a shot doesn't mean he's not defensively sound.
He put Ovechkin on his ass multiple times.

I think we all need to accept that a player like Johnny brings out the fan girls in ways this board is not at all used to.
