Monahan out. My Interest in this tournament just went down for me 50%. If Johnny is still unsigned I think my household passes watching this. TSN is just going to be all fanboys about McSavior anyways and I can only stand so much Oiler honking as it is lol. Hard Pass hopefully the Jay's will be going strong at that time.

Good stuff. That'll get him in training camp learning Gulutzan's systems. Plus we might see Gaudreau being centered by Matthews, Eichel, or McDavid which is exciting.

I'll be honest. I'd like to see Gaudreau and McDavid on a line. Just cause it'd be both weird and exciting.

Yep, it'll be a great preview for them being linemates in a couple of years after bolting via free-agency to a big-market Eastern Conference team, amirite?

That would be other worldly. Two of the quickest thinking players in the game for my money. Gaudreau is in a class all his own in that regard, and Crosby is maybe the only guy who can top McDavid.

The tourney is a 'cash grab' to me because they aren't really playing for anything. For pride, I guess maybe. For fun. But it's not a best-on-best, country-vs-country like the Olympics are. The young team has both Canadians and Americans on it, the European team is a mish mash of players from all over. That's why I can't get into it. If the European team wins, does anyone care besides the players? It just seems kinda lame.

I look at as a glorified Allstar game that will mean nothing in the end.

It's not really a World Cup. It's the Gary Bettman Invitational.

Do Europeans care about the Ryder cup?

I dont know about the players, but I'm thinking that Canada will be going into this tournament with huge Targets on their backs.

If all the other teams just commit themselves to 'wanting to beat Canada' then we might get something decent out of it, but as it is we're already seeing 'All-Star Game quality' injury excuses.

"Ugh...my back! I cant make it."

Other than that, yeah, it looks pretty skipable. I mean, I might be desperate enough for hockey to watch it...but I wont like it. It will be interesting to see what attendance is going to be like.

No kidding. Some people are just whiners. Boohoo it's a cash grab. So what? They aren't getting my cash. And I sure as hell aren't a fan of long summers with no hockey talk or news. Do some of you enjoy the hockeyless months?? It's pure torture.

Give me WC hockey any day of the week.

My guess is the numbers will be big, it's a massive market that has been desperate to watch meaningful hockey for some time now, and yeah the tournament is meaningless, but their excitement will be more of a reflection of just how meaningless the NHL level of hockey they've been subjected to over the recent history has been for them.

At the very least it will be better than regular pre season hockey.
