Maybe 2 years ago, but to name Eberle the captain now would be a slap in the face of the organization. The guy's give a #### level has dropped off drastically in the last couple years, and that is not the message you want to send to your team.

In all seriousness-I had this question too.
Does the league own the merchandising rights to Jets 1.0 gear because they had ownership of the Coyotes, therefore allowing Jets 2.0 to use the throwback logo? Or was there some other agreement arrived at between the two teams?
I faintly remember something about the league giving special allowance to the WPG franchise for the name "Jets", but don't remember full details.

That said, Eberle is a total flake. Him as Oilers captain would be fitting.

Lots of speculation? By who? You? Lowe is on the alumni team, Lowe was the captain, Lowe wore #4. Doesn't get much more straightforward than that.
