Boom: Hamilton, First line PP and a better start, career high in points.
Chiasson, puts up 30-35 points, gets his career back on track.
Bennett, Starts being consistent puts up ~ 50-60 points.
Busts:
Bouma, injured, misses ~50 games.
Wideman, wont be put in a position to succeed, #5/6 D. #2 power play, sparingly used.
Stajan, buyout material/pressbox warmer by seasons end, other players simply push him through the depth chard.
Can Stajan really be considered a bust? I know this is really more of an overperform/underperform thread, but I mean does anyone really have any expectations for him besides being a good locker room presence? The only way he busts is if he turns into a jerk.

On the other side of the equation, I think there's quite a bit of pressure on Gulutzan to take this team to the next level, so i could see him be considered a bust by many at the end of the season if things don't go well.
what's the threshold for Gully bust? after the last guy got us #6, 4, 6 draft picks, does he just have to finish higher to not be a disappointment? there's also just so many other variables like the goaltending that I have no idea how you determine the coach's direct effect after just the first year.

I think the fact that many fans now believe the major parts are in place on this team, they are expecting this team to start rising. I think we at least have to be in the playoff-chase conversation this year. We can't be bottom 5. Bust is obviously too strong of a word, but with it being Trelivings biggest hire, and him being a young somewhat unproven coach, I do think there is more pressure on him to show positive signs sooner rather than later.
Boom : Wideman - contract year and pattern of on and off again years. (or just wishful thinking on my part for deadline trade)
: Monahan. He's the real deal
: Hamilton. Settles in and thrives
: Colborne - well maybe not boom, but will show lasts years garbage games were not without merit.
: Bennett - everyone sees it. He is going to break out
Bust : Larsson - Expectations to be savior of that wreck too much
: Bouma - Hope I'm wrong
: Engeland :/
: Brouwer - well not really bust, but not live up to expectations of some.
Edit - just for fun calling McDavid to have another disappointing year too. No good reason for this except E=NG
Boom Johnson - played well on a young Sabres team that had a Flames-like awful even strength goal differential.
Bust Elliott - He is supposed to be ultra competitive. It will be interesting how he adapts gong from a veteran Hitchcock coached team focused on team defense to a team that will be learning team defense. I am afraid he will have trouble adjusting to the team in front of him.
Almost certainly he will be considered a bust as the expectations set for him are unbelievably off the charts high.
----
The Flames are not going to have 3 D-men with over 40 pts and 3 in the top 22 scoring d-men.
The boom level for Hamilton should be 30 pts and plus 10.... Turning his +/- around by 25 really turns the Flames back into a playoff contender.

Not sure if serious but I kinda hope Colborne doesn't boom TOO much playing with Colorado.

Boom: Fans who like to mock the Oilers
Bust: Oilers
I predict the opposite.
They actually may be pretty good this year.
Its embarrassing enough how long its taken.
but it won't continue forever.
Oilers being good just makes for better hockey games in Calgary as in the Gretzky Oilers motivated the construction of the Bob Johnson Calgary Flames.
But hold off on the "Oilers are almost Good" thread until it happens.
Did somebody say Super Mario nintendo music?
Here's a piano rendition I did where I tried to mix the underworld theme with a bunch of different themes (Super Mario 1 Overworld, Super Mario 1 Swimming, Super Mario 2, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6MccQt-itM
Boom: Ferland- plays top 6 with Bennett and Tkachuk and they form a tough to play against line that puts up points
Hamilton- takes a step forward and scores 60pts playing solid D on the second pair
Bennett- follows up with a big 25 goal 50pt season
Gadureau- top 3 in league points
Bust
Elliott- proves to be a product of the Blues
Jokkipakka- people think he is top 4 but he is in and out of the lineup all year
Chaisson- in and out of the lineup
Bouma- proves to be a one hit wonder and struggles to stay in the lineup
