Nights like this, Maria has to lose her damn mind wondering why Serena can never play this bad against her. Great win for Svitolina, and gotta like Kerber or Madison Keys to win the gold now.

Geez, really disappointing that Genie couldn't have got by Kerber now.

It's funny how much this bracket looks like your standard major. Half of the players unseeded and some total unknowns in there for good measure. It really is wide open for anyone to win, and even though I backed Kerber or Keys, Kvitova has the easiest road to winning. Which of course means she'll choke.

Looking at the men's doubles draw, there's a chance that PopSock could be on opposite sides of the net for the gold medal (lots of tennis still to be played though). Steve Johnson and Jack Sock are into the semi-finals for the States.

Nester and Pospisil are doing their part so far. Won the first set 6-3 over Fognini/Seppi. And could easily have been 6-1.

Gotta like PopNest chances of getting the gold medal match. Rafa is supposed to play 3 matches tomorrow (mixed doubles too...), and you know he's going balls to the wall in singles. Whether the doubles is scheduled before or after almost doesn't matter, he's not going to give his full effort. So another performance like today and I think they'll get there. Would love the all North American final.

that's not much time for Nadal between matches, forget what the regular ATP standard is to rest in between matches.

Murray wins the first set over Fognini 6-1...loses the second set 6-2, down a break in the third. Andy on meltdown watch.

He was actually up a set and a break at 6-1, 2-1. 8 straight games lost now.
