Osoyoos is the warmest lake in Canada but the lake doesn't get very deep before you find yourself out with watercraft.
I'm not saying I'd rather spend a day at Grand Beach than Waikiki Beach, that's silly, but Grand Beach is fantastic.

I have not ever been to Grand Beach but beating Waikiki wouldn't be that hard. Yeah its Hawaii but geez, not exactly a paradise.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd take Crimson Lake mid-week over that any day of the week. So many people. Ugh.

The water is gorgeous.
There's nicer beaches of course on that Island but I can't remember their names.

My mom had a best friend who moved to France and adopted two Nicaraguan children with her husband. Both kids said they liked Lake Winnipeg more than any place on earth (France,Britain, and Central America included)

Kids! When I was a kid my favourite swimming spot was off a log boom on Texada Island. Later I liked gliding down the rapids sans inner tube on the Alouette River.
There used to be a rope swing at Buntzen Lake which was great although this is a picture of Whyte Lake on the North Shore. Buntzen Lake is part of the Vancouver water supply and used to be cut off from the public. I remember being chased through the woods by the warden and his dogs when we tried to go for a swim.
okay where's my onion.
As has been mentioned though the rising population has made the swimming spots more crowded. I and my friends used to be able to skinny dip at Lafarge Lake but now it's a crowded park.

Maybe I'll check out Lake Newell by Brooks? Sylvan is just too crowded.

Post is confusing. You don't like Sylvan lake because it's too crowded but you're ok with grand beach on August long weekend? The place every winnipeger goes who doesn't have a cabin?

My family has 3 cabins across the lake in Dunnottar, so 99% of the time I am either there or Winnipeg Beach. I just liked the pic of Grand Beach to emphasize the beauty of some of the beaches along the lake. The West side is less crowded, unless you hit Gimli during the Icelandic Festival.
Grand Beach is not even remotely comparable to Sylvan Lake in terms of crowding. There are just too many options for people in the Winnipeg CMA within an hour drive, where unfortunately for Calgary (which has nearly twice the CMA population now), it seems it's either Sylvan Lake, Gull Lake, or Lake Newell. Unless there are nice beaches I am unaware of.

Oh yeah, in the 80s after our family moved to Calgary from Iceland we went yearly well in to the 90s. So many great memories in Markerville. Back then Sylvan lake had a beach too.
I only attended one Gimli festival, its the same time as the major one here in Iceland (retail workers weekend) which is this weekend, it was a blast and I've been 2 times to Gimli, its such a neat place and the locals who are many generations Canadian love their Icelandic traditions, food and many of them even speak pretty decent Icelandic.

And, while 2 or so hours away, as has been mentioned a couple of times, Crimson Lake is good too. You could easily make it a nice day trip out of it; the drive is great.
(and obviously I'm not saying we have great beaches, but just 2 above for e.g. that would fit your criteria. Unless otherwise you aren't actually looking for an answer).

Well either those are some polite/ignorant kids or it must be quite something, as there are some insane beaches in France. Corsica, the Calanques around Cassis, Marseille, etc.

Ya the whole grand beach being one of the best beaches in the world, I don't get that. Sure it has kind of nice sand but that's about it. Don't know how you can compare grand beach to beaches in the carribean, Brazil or Italy for example.

As far as I know the sand on grand beach is real and not trucked in.
Grand beach is nice for Canada, but the sand is nothing like the nice powdery stuff like in cancun (I have not been to many exotic beaches).

I went to Grand Beach on a weekday in early September like 5 years ago and it was great. Nice beach, nice weather and no crowds. Manitobans have a real gem there.

I suppose I should contribute to the thread more than laughing at the crazy troll by the OP.

Grand Bend? I love that it looks like you are on the ocean but with fresh water.
My Grandma lives a few kms north of the Bend. When I was there a couple years ago she was super embarrassed about her beach and wondered why I would even bother visiting after being spoiled by beaches in Australia. I had to explain I was visiting to see her and that she should be proud of her very nice beach.
The best Canadian beach I have been too though is Cavendish PEI. Great scenery, long walks, wide, not too crowded and reasonable sized waves.
