I have to admit I was initially not thrilled with our pick of him but I have really warmed up to this kid. I thought he wasn't the line driver with Marner and Dvorak but it looks like he was just as much a part of that line clicking as Mitch and Christian were. Seeing him away from those two at development camp, makes it clear he oozes not only grit but a great amount of skill as well.

Plus, just the way he beamed when he put on that Flaming C at the draft and his smile signing that contract, how could I not root for this kid to succeed??? Also such a well-spoken person in his interviews.

I look forward to seeing Bennett and Tkachuk cause havoc for the next 15 years and I will gladly eat a plate of pubes if he excels.

Welcome Chucky

Couple really solid pairings on our top 2 lines for many years to come hopefully.
Backlund/Frolik is pretty good too.

Default Flames sign Matthew Tkachuk to 3 year ELC ($925k + $850k bonus AAV)

According to Tkachuk, he will be here a couple of days training, then he will head to Toronto on Monday where he trains with Gary Roberts to work on power skating.

Totally expected them to sign him asap, clears the way for him to have a solid shot at making the team next season. Nice to see him going to train with Roberts, that guy was a machine!

Yeah, if Bennett and Tkachuk develop as they expected that is two drool worthy pairings for a lot of years. Should be no problem filling out the rest of the top six around that kind of talent.

Great mix of skill, size, speed, hockey sense, play making, shooting, grit. Just fantastic.

I was not sold on him in the beginning but I am glad he dropped and took him instead of another forward like Nylander

Yeah, and if he makes the team it uses up one of our 50 contracts.

What is Treliving thinking?

I am penciling this kid into the lineup for next year. Flames have been very lucky getting a no brainer pick fall into their lap the 3 times they have drafted in the top 6
