Yes the bandwagon is full, however, my first NFL jersey was Steve Largent. Anyway, enough derail, back to Vegas...

True enough, there are some things I will never understand and marriage is one them(marriage can't be too too bad, my parents did get married).

You are making a lot of assumptions about what you can and cannot do once you get married. In reality the rules of your marriage are whatever you and your partner want them to be. The trick is to know what you want and stand up for it in your relationships. Don't fall into the trap of settling/striving for what society says is a proper marriage because you will never be happy, it is a silly fiction.
On topic: I am not living in Canada right now, so the question does not apply to me. From where I live, I have gotten flights to Vegas for $108 round trip including taxes+fees. Being able to see an NHL game while will definitely make the trip more appealing. I plan to go on at least a few trips there with my wife to see a game and enjoy all the other debauchery.

I doubt it. Keep in mind that Las Vegas isn't really on the radar of Canadians east of Manitoba. It's a Western Canadian destination, and Western Canadians already have Arizona if they want to go somewhere hot and watch the NHL.

You're in Seattle... Now you need tickets to the game which, speaking from experience, are not cheap. You're pretty much buying from a reseller so there's an immediate markup and there's the "recent successful team" tax added on top of that. Our tickets to the Seahawks Superbowl banner raising cost more than our flights, food, and hotel combined.

I would expect that to be expensive, being their first Superbowl and all...
AND it was the Packers.

Small world. I was at that game too.
On topic: I would love to catch a game out in Vegas and turn it into the annual sporting event. A bunch of buddies and I usually try to make a trip out to the states and catch two NFL games in different cities, a basketball game, a baseball game, a hockey game and a college football game if we can plan it properly. Fun times indeed.

Would anybody go out of their way to see a non-premium game? I just don't see that happening, and a lot of the games will not be rivalries that anybody other than a diehard LV hockey fan would want to go to.
I expect they will have to do something pretty fantastic to fill those seats every game. Like Blue Man group or Don Rickles during intermissions or something.

Agreed. I am only going to a game in LV to see my team. If I am there and they are playing anyone else I wouldn't go. Way too much better things to do.

Vegas is not my thing in the first place, but I don't really get the appeal of travelling to a non-hockey market for a game, when I can get a much more authentic experience at home. Sure, I'd travel to a hockey game in Montreal, or a soccer match in Barcelona, or a football game in Texas......but Vegas for hockey? Meh.

I think it might be a draw for Canadian hockey fans who don't have an NHL team where they live. As someone who lives in Calgary and can see the Flames whenever, I would rather see a game in a city with an NHL team and an established fanbase. Vegas is ok but there are better US cities to visit with better NHL experiences.

it would surprise me to be honest...
not sure why any canadians would purposely plan a trip to vegas to watch a game, when they could "plan a trip" to any city in the NHL to do the very same thing?
Vegas has allure, sure, but i think it's only a small group of people that are on the fence about going that would tip the balance towards solidifying plans to go...
Canadians may tweek their itinerary while they are down there, but planning a trip specifically to watch a game? Seems rather unlikely

Price. Vegas is a lot cheaper to get to than a lot of places. There is also lots of other entertainment options to do besides hockey.

I will absolutely be hitting up Vegas for Flames games, especially if the dollar continues to rebound. The price to catch a game in Vancouver is ridiculous. With ferry, hotel, food, etc., I'm generally looking at about $300 - $400 for one night. I can do a flight + hotel in Vegas for three nights for $500 - $600, and I don't have to put up with Canuck fans. Seems like an easy decision.

I would imagine that hotels will have packages including tickets for both NHL and NFL to entice sports fans so I would expect good deals for sure. I do feel that the hockey team at least could suffer from having paid empty seats due to hotel patrons maybe not making it to games or hotels unable to give the tickets away so you could see sellout games where the seats aren't necessarily full.

Not to mention that I usually gamble quite a bit when I'm in Vegas, so I could easily see getting some tickets comped as well.

I have a feeling that doesn't make it cheaper in the grand scheme of things!

Funny how multiple people in this very thread say they will go down there and catch a game (among other things) yet some of you still insist that Canadians won't
I know for a FACT they will...because myself and some buddies are already planning on it

It depends really. There have been a couple of occasions where I basically recouped the entire trip's expenses through my winnings.

This is very off topic but I just read a study the other night that disproved this misconception. The study showed that longer lives are linked to live-in partnerships and marriages in fact showed lower results for life spans than couples who lived together but were not married!
