I need to apologize for my post on the first page. I read this as who will make the next step and be a fixture on the big club, not become a part of the "core". In the sense of true core, then yes I could see Gillies being that.

Seems like not so long ago we couldn't be excited to have this discussion.
I'd say Kulak but am excited for Gillies as he seems to posses some quality I can't identify but watching him the past few years thinks he is gonna be great.
Based on last year, I would say either Jankowski or Shinkaruk for forwards, and Andersson and Kylington on defense. Based on the year before, I would say Poirer and Hickey.
Now we have to include Nylander/Tkachuk/Dobious to the mix. Not to mention every year there's a surprise guy in camp like Hathaway and Jooris.
Jankowski for me. He has impressed me with IQ the few times that I watched him at camps. That's what it takes at the NHL level and I'm excited for him to get some games this year.
So it's the first one of the prospects to make it as part of the core... I'll say Shinkaruk because he's already had a good showing in the NHL and I feel should have what it takes to join the core.
After that I think it's between Andersson and Kylington in two years. If Nylander is selected this year, good chance for him as well to be the next one after Shinkaruk.
