Yeah, they needed more days off during the finals. :-)
No disputing that Marleau is on the back 9, and neither guy is getting younger, but Pitt took it to SJ on the whole. Pavelski, Couture, Burns were all of limited effectiveness. They just had trouble responding to the speed and assertiveness as a team

What part of me admittedly saying "perhaps I'm over thinking it" did you miss?
It's a little early to start being a dick, no?
Edit: No surprise Go Jets Go thanked your post.. 2 pea's in a pod. Guess I have to ignore you too..

Perhaps I'm over thinking it.. but perhaps there's some underlying resentment that he rode the bench..? Or, like others have said, he sees the writing on the wall...

You are badly overthinking this. MA Fleury has a long, long history of being a consummate team player. From all the best Penguins insiders he is always quite unanimously among the team's most popular players with his team mates.
I agree that he "sees the writing on the wall," and I expect that he will be moved in the off season. But his reaction upon receiving the Cup was a product of embarrassment, which actually fits very well with his long-time reputation as a good guy.

That's the way I saw it too. That he was humble with the win and didn't want to parade around considering the few games he played in the playoffs.

I thought the whole Cup reception was quite odd, and given how his season ended it was very surprising to me to see him so high on the receiving line. There is no doubt in my mind that he felt really awkward about it.

One of my favorite pieces to the Penguins cup win, is three cast-aways from 3 of our biggest rivals.
Bonino, Kessell & Schultz. Good on them.
And
Suck it Vancouver.
Suck it Toronto.
Suck it Edmonton.

Murray also didn't seem to take to being interviewed by Oake. Seemed like a awkward interview. Couldn't wait to get outa there. Can't say I blame him considering he just won the cup, was super excited and new to it all and wanted to be among his team mates.

I didn't mind the "couple of strides and hand it off" part; would have been a cool story if he had handed it to Murray though.

There is a set order every year. Each player knows exactly when it is their turn, who they are receiving the Cup from, and to whom they are handing it off.

I watched Murray skate away after the interview to see what he would do, and thought it was quite funny that he basically skated into the group, but didn't really engage with any of his other teammates. It sure seemed like he just had no desire at all to talk to Scott Oake.

I thought, if I were Fleury, I wouldn't feel right about parading with the Cup for very long. Sure, he played a key role in getting them to the playoffs, but somebody took over his job and did a darn good job. I would be feeling that, maybe I don't really deserve to celebrate too hardily, because, what have I done over the past two months to help win? Hockey players are funny that way. They are very superstitious about being in the same room as the Cup when they haven't won it, and I can see a player feeling a bit sheepish about celebrating with the cup when they weren't one of the key players who took them through the playoffs. In spite of the team's best efforts to make a player feel included, not all the players are going to feel like they deserved the accolades.

Murray was backing off because Oake didn't seem to understand personal space, Oake would just lean closer again. It was uh, bizarre.
On Fleury, I think people are reading his reaction to grabbing the Cup wrong, he was embarrassed to get it before so many other players I think Sid did this out of respect for his seniority. Fleury is a great guy I'd have no problems seeing him in a Flames jersey.

Maybe I just missed it, but when did Murray hold the cup? Fleury had his turn quite early but I didn't see Murray at all although I didn't watch very long.

Best part of the presentation, was that even though Gary Bettman was applauding San Jose, they were still reletnlessly booing him.
Side Note: I'm sure this has been mentioned, but I don't agree with Crosby getting the Conn Smythe.

The number of people who seem to be genuinely bothered by this is really surprising to me. Crosby looked to me like the best player on the ice every game of the past two rounds, and he was the most important player in the matchup with Thornton and Pavelski—he completely dominated them. Am I wrong about this?

I think a lot of people are too fixated on point totals.
Crosby was dominant in these playoffs. From driving the play, winning key faceoffs to setting up and scoring game winners.
It's not that he was the only choice (a good case can be made for a few other players) but with how well he played anyone who says he was undeserving is either just looking at numbers or out to lunch.

The guy played a complete game, all 200 feet. You almost never see him lose a face off. Blocking shots, scoring big goals, getting big assists and ignoring those trying to get him off his game. No issue at all in him getting the Smythe.
