I don't want a D man, but if it has to be done, I'd love to take a chance on Sergechev.

I don't trust the Nylanders. They change teams like I change underwear and their father seems to have a lot to do with those decisions. I do trust the Flames to pick a guy that wants to play here though. They must have learnt from the Erixon malarkey.

I would much rather role the dice on Lucas Johansen (Ryan's bro) being there at 35, which is where he is projected and take a forward at 6. LJ is basically another Andersson/Kylington/Hickey type.
That said, if the the 1-5 picks go as expected, I would rather explore options to trade down. I don't think Nylander > say Brown or Jost or Keller + 39th/40th overall pick. There isn't much difference between them or the defensemen even. There are quite a number of quality players in the 30-40 range, so getting an additional pick opens up options (say if we trade for a goalie).

To me this list just reaffirms that there are lots of good prospects at 6-15. I wouldn't be disappointed with any of those guys (but perhaps a bit surprised if it is Gauthier/McLeod at #6).

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Was on the Nylander train, but wouldn't be opposed to Keller. Lots of great options though and hope the scouts get it right.

For me it's Jost. I'm a bit turned off of BCHL guys because of Chucko, and even Kyle Turris to an extent. What I mean by that is as a number 3 overall pick who put up superior numbers in the BCHL he hasn't exactly lit up the NHL. If Jost was to become a Turris level player that would be great...but his numbers lag what Turris accomplished at that level so initially that would lead me to believe that he'd be a lesser version of Turris. But having seen some highlights and the like, Jost is starting to grow on me as a guy who might be the best option at 6.

It isn't so much my warming up to different players in the last little while as realizing that there are several good players who will be available at 6. I'm more relaxed about the pick and will trust in the wisdom of Flames scouts to pick the BPA, regardless of the 'consensus'.

Juolevi. I was on the Chych bandwagonn if it was going to be D for a while, but he's impressed me.

Nylander looks too skilled to pass on if you know who are gone when we pick. I'd be happy with Nylander, Brown, or Juolevi.

Gauthier is a terrible selection at six. Dude will fall to the 20 range. He was like sixth on his team in scoring. Never do you take a dude who is that low on his TEAM at a pick like six and expect him to be better than so much of his draft class.
Nylander Juolevi or Keller. All three players have a pedigree other picks in this range do not. Juolevi is going to be a the most valuable down the road as others have said. He would be the best asset management.

Put me down for Jost. Already high on brown and down on the d options. Keller was getting up there but I was reminded by burkes comments on stempniak where his frame prevents him from being a more effective player. Yes, Keller appears to have superior skill but might lack the physical frame to thrive. Everyone will point to Johnny but that is unfair to Keller as Johnny is one of a kind. Not all smaller skilled player will turn out to be another Johnny. While Jost isn't the biggest guy, he has an acceptable frame which shouldn't hold him back in the west.
So for me, Brown or Jost will do.

i've always believed that Calgary ought to pick Nylander, if Tkachuk and PLD are off the board...
i terms of players i've warmed up to, it gotta be Keller and Jost.
Keller, though a little small weight wise seems just to have a high, high skill level...
Wasn't super sold on Jost, but after watching more tape and reading up on him as a competitor/leader, i am definitely more on board with him... the BCHL roots still give me a little pause however.
Brown is a guy i really hope we stay away from.

Voted Nylander. Was concerned about his supposed softness but I haven't heard any persuasive evidence of this in the endless draft thread. Skill + RW sounds good to me

I want the Flames to pick Juolevi, but Brown has grown on me the most.
Gauthier and McLeod have lost me.

For me it's between Nylander and Juolevi. At the start I was on board with Nylander. He's a Right shooting skilled forward which fills part of our needs, meaning he's average sized and not physical, but will probably have a good NHL career.
My other alternative is a defenceman and I think it's a great alternative. It doesn't fill an immediate need but a defenceman is always great value if we really need to make a trade at any time. I like Juolevi because he's the safest of the three defencemen I'd consider and is my choice at 6. Picking at #6 is not a time to be taking chances, whoever they pick.

To put it in another way, the only players I would be disappointed if the Flames took from that list are Gauthier and McLeod, whether the Flames are picking at 6 or if they trade down. Everyone else would be perfectly fine in my book.

Gotta be Nylander. Mega-skilled Right shot winger.
Sold.
