A few years ago they were the Belles of ball with the huge signings of Suter and Parise, (say what you will about their contracts, but those are really good players) to go along with Koivu and what was touted as the best prospect pool out there with the likes of Granlund, Coyle, Brodin etc.
They even added a solid goalie, and had some Dmen really develop well, but despite that can't seem to get over the hump to contender status.
Bringing in Boudreau is likely the current cores last kick at the cat, along with Fletcher too.
I hope they fail miserably. Haha

They are an interesting case study. They have one driving player up front in Parise. I like Koivu but he needs a power forward on his wing ideally. Granlund is too small/soft to drive their offence, too easily pushed out of the game by bigger, stronger players. Vanek is one of those talented but frustrating players who just doesn't have the compete level you want. Coyle I still think can be a beauty. Zucker was massively inconsistent this year.
On the backend they have the elite Suter and then it drops off after that. Overall their defense is too small much like the Flames was this year. They could use another top pairing guy and they really need a big, tough, strong physical top 4 defensemen to compliment the rest of their defense.
They are also stuck in a rough division.
