I could see Edmonton or Buffalo being interested in Laine 1st overall.

I hear Bob Nicholson is practicing his 'Smug Face.'

I'm pretty sure that the lottery broadcast is @ 1900 ET, while the Pens/Caps game does not start until 2000.

Friedman had at least a silver lining the other day on the morning show when he pointed out that if the Oilers win the Lottery there's a good chance they go to nuclear protocol and you'll see some real bananas moves from them. In my mind this is good because their trading record is so awful it will probably make them worse in the long run.

But are the Flames likely to draft Laine #1? I don't think so. I see the trading that pick to the team with #2 along with a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Interesting that Burke said to the media what I have been saying all along about the draft lottery and how to fix it. If you get pick #1 you are inelligible for the lottery for a period of time.

F-ing stupid league should have done that after the Oilers won the lottery in 2012 and got their 3rd straight 1st overall.

Burke told the media they had Mathews #1 but you can probably take it with a grain of salt at this point.

Best case scenario imo is Flames win #1 and the Coyotes win one of #2 or #3. Trade down to their spot, pick up an asset, and draft a Fin.

I really think a Bennett-Pulijarvi duo would be a nightmare for other teams for years and years

Say we draft 1st, and Arizona comes 2nd, what would your asking price be to trade down to them?

that's how I see it, though I could see them targetting higher-end tangible pieces over draft picks:
Matthews for Laine+Korpisalo
Matthews for Laine+Bernier+Hyman
Matthews for Laine+Stone+Domingue
Matthews+Smid+Stajan for Laine/Puljujarvi+Zajac (40%Retained)
Matthews for Puljujarvi+Connor
Matthews for Puljujarvi+Boeser
Matthews for Puljujarvi+Raantanen
Matthews for Puljujarvi+Zibanejad

That's probably what they offer initially.
Me? I ask for Strome and #2 for #1.
I won't get it, but we probably meet in the middle somewhere, like Fischer + #2 + #37 for #1

Sam Bennett? He looks pretty promising to me. I think he'll turn out just fine.

Would you recommend pepto-bismol or rolaids?

Let's say the Flames win #1, and a team like Columbus wins #2, or Toronto even, a team that would love to get their hands on a franchise center. Do you offer them Bennett for #2? If so, is that enough to get #2?
