Penguins: 48-26-8, 104 points (second in the Metropolitan Division and second in the eastern conference) Capitals: 56-18-8, 120 points (first in the Metropolitan Division and first in the eastern conference)
Both teams won in each others rink and the last regular season game was decided in overtime.
The Penguins and Capitals have played each other seven times in the postseason. The Penguins won all seven series with three of those series going seven games.
Series preview and Schedule TBA

Personally I'm hoping for the Caps to win the cup because I like Trotz and Ovechkin and think they are both overdue to get some playoff success. However the Penguins look like they are firing on all cylinders right now and the Caps looked flat against the Flyers. If I had to put my money down on a winner I probably take the Penguins in 7 as it seems like the Caps always seem to squeeze their sticks in the big series.

Might sound silly, but I'm pulling for the Capitals simply because of Trotz. Best coach to never be in the Stanley Cup Finals. It would be a real shame if they didn't make it that far this year.
Solid point. I'm definitely pulling for the Caps to win it all this year. Especially for OV. But yeah, can't forget about Trotz.
For all the work he does with people with disabilities, how can you not root for the guy? Caps all the way!

Washington is a slight favorite over Pittsburgh. Methinks that too much emphasis on the regular season. Pittsburgh has been regularly rolling over all teams in the 2nd half, while the Caps struggled a lot towards the end, particularly against good teams. My money will be on Pitt
My first reaction was to take Pittsburgh as it seems like they have scored an average of 4 or more goals in most of their games recently. Their supporting cast has been unreal for them in the last quarter of the season and playoffs. I ended up picking the Capitals though, their offence is nothing to laugh at either and I think its all going to come down to the goaltending and defence aspect which Washington wins by a mile in my opinion. Two great teams and this will be the series I pay the most attention to.
Trotz says Orpik will be a game time decision, but looks like good chance that he'll play
