I'm still bitter about how badly he choked away that series against the Sharks.

Flames traded down in the draft to get Trevor when we could have drafted Broduer

Add another one to the 'favourite player was Kidd growing up' list.
I've "taken it to the PMs" with one poster in my history here at CP and it was to defend his name. Not that you can really defend his performance with the Flames, although I like to point out he was the last goalie to lead the Flames to the playoffs before Kipper.
But he always seemed like a standup human being. Stepping up for his wife as she was diagnosed with cancer shortly after their third child. His charitable efforts including Kidder's Kids. And of course the pads, mask, and crazy hair.
It wasn't always easy to be a Kidd fan. I didn't get to go to many games, and i believe he was pulled in half the games I saw live. Which helps explain why most of the city is sour to him. But thanks to Kidd I got into goaltending and developed a passion for the position I might have never had.
I bought a personalized autographed photo from my friend (of a different name) for $15 after he left town just to have something from him. But my buddy played in a charity tournament game against him (and outdueled him in net) last year in New Brunswick and got me a signed puck from him after. Quality person.
TL;DR... I approve this thread!

Well, in a perfect world, have Kidd swing by Lethbridge and sign the Jersey so I can meet a childhood hero
I find the Kidd hate funny. I was 11-15 while he was a Flame. And at that age I loved the flames win or loss. And all I knew was that Kidd was our man. So yes, he was one of my favorite flames of that era.

There would be a 1995 Stanley Cup Champions banner hanging at the Saddledome if the Flames had:
a) drafted Brodeur instead or
b) never traded Vernon

I know these days we look back and see we could have drafted Brodeur instead. But back then, 90s me didn't care about the draft or contracts or anything like that. All I knew was Trevor Kidd was my hero. Even when I played hockey as a kid as a goalie, I'd always pretend to be him.
I hope you get that jersey autographed. Sometimes we just latch onto players and like them for some odd reason.
And besides, Scorpion's the last person who should be asking why when he clearly has some weird love affair with David Jones

Growing up, I was actually a Trevor Kidd fan too. As a kid, I loved his mask and how he looked so big in the net. Strange what kids latch onto I guess.

I still have a Trevor Kidd rookie card, in a glass case, in storage, waiting for appreciation. Will it be worth more if he signs it?
Wait! Maybe he will buy it from me!

Kidd was one of my faves, too. His mask with that hair is still the all-time best.

How could you not have been a fan of Trevor Kidd? He was the most hyped up prospect we had in a very long time. Best goalie in major junior and the heir to Vernon's throne. He was the first Flames' prospect that I followed up the junior ranks.
I was also a big fan of Kidder.

OT but... I understand the Flames logic of trading up and grabbing Kidd. Would love to know why The Devils were confident in trading down and passing on Kidd and electing to take Brodeur instead. Must have been a hell of a scout.

1995 Playoff stats: 3W, 4L, 3.59 GAA, .856 SV% vs the "offensive juggernaut" San Jose Sharks who averaged 2.7 goals per game with Ulf Dahlen as their leading scorer.
I had high hopes for Trevor but he broke my heart as a young Flames fan.
