also seems he wasn't Hartleys biggest fan.

Hiller, a quite sensitive player, couldn't cope with the harsh tone of former ZSC champion coach Bob Hartley and was only the 3rd choice at times this season. "It didn't work on an interpersonal level", Hiller says.

article also says Hiller will be the best-paid player in Biels history.

Ramo was great in December, and Ortio was acceptable in March/April (Garbage time). That's great except for that the regular season is 6 months long.

I would think this is a CBA/agreement with IIHF thing similar to why the Flames have to wait to sign Pribyl. When your team is done for the season you can sign. Flames are done, so now Hiller as a UFA can sign in Europe.

Hiller is still under contract so this should be tampering. I propose all Flames fans receive a block of delicious Gruyere cheese as compensation.

Surprised he got a 3 year deal. Guess his Swiss team forgot to watch his play from this past season.

Pretty sure Hiller is better than any Swiss goalie that team can sign and the name will be a popular sell to the fans. Not a surprise he got a 3 year deal.

Seems Hartley has an issue with players who don't come to camp fit, or prepared. Thee guys get paid nicely they should come to work prepared.

Harley also said the right things to the media whenever he was asked about Hiller. Never threw him or any of the other goaltenders under the bus. Always made sure it was known Hiller was part of the team. Gave him more then his fair share of games, when coaches like Keenan or Tortorella would have publicly humiliated him. If they never saw eye to eye behind closed doors, well then that's just too bad.
Either way I was a huge Hiller fan last season, bigger then most. But everything just went wrong with the team this season and Hiller was the poster child for that. I wish him nothing but the best and thank him for an amazing season last year.

I'll be honest I was not a fan of his signing with the Flames and he was my least favorite Flame. I am sure Hiller is a nice person but as a fan i did not like the way he plays. He scares the crap out of me everytime he was playing. Yes he played some good hockey a few games but he is off, I just can't stand him. Very happy for him he is going back to Switzerland and I am glad he sign for 3 years. I am also very glad he won't be back playing for Calgary. I thought he should have been the one that got sent to Stockton instead of Ramo but it is over with. He was by far one of the worst goaltender that ever played for Calgary.
