Because the latter actually (sometimes) has a liner, and the better ones have neoprene/Lycra that goes across the "fly" to keep everything contained and hidden if the drawstring comes loose.

I'm confused as to how a wiener can get exposed in actual board shorts unless it's on purpose. Or they fly off on the water slide.

It could work for you if it's not a predominately cotton or wool blend pair of Saxx I think.

You'd still probably want a pair of actual swim wear inside long term, but for a temporary inexpensive solution, I'm thinking the Saxx could work.

Taco's team aquatic or any misc store that sells swimwear could be worth perusing. Clearance/Winners included (ie: Those super weird designs but great material discounts).

I was going to mention TA's grab bag bin. If you're looking for something a little 'fashion-forward" Google Funky Trunks. Some cool patterns. If you have a good sense of humor, Google "budgy smugglers". Swimoutlet.com also has a lot of clearance deals as well. But some of the good stuff doesn't ship to Canada.

Why not? I hate being that guy that is walking out of the water, and I have to make an adjustment in front of kids and moms and dads. Nobody wants to see that. We're not at a nightclub. It's so blatantly obvious hanging down the side of the leg with wet shorts. A speedo keeping it where it belongs is the best idea I've heard of in a long time.

Also - I've never been considered a show stopper so I guess its not a problem I deal with.

Another interesting note - I almost had a wave steal my shorts yesterday. I would have laughed if I had to strut it home sin pantanalones.
