Kadri is the perfect type of player for the Leafs. Guys like him never win.

Was Reilly eligible for an offersheet? If not, that explains the difference in value to Hamilton.

Be interesting what Seth Jones and Ryan Murray (RFAs) both picked for this team over Hamilton will get.
Trouba and Lindholm agents are rumored to be using Hamilton's contract as the minimum for what these guys are worth. Will Trouba be picked to team u-24? Will he get paid more or less than Hamilton?

Lol, you really don't ever miss an opportunity to let us know of your opinion on Hamilton huh?

lol this guy...team hasn't even been selected and are you honestly surprised that the Oilers GM didn't name three Calgary Flames to the initial roster. That same GM tried to acquire Hamilton for his own team last summer FYI after already having him on his previous team.

Ricardodw not every thread has to be about your obsessive hate for Hamilton. How is this guy not banned yet?

when Scheifele signs with the jets I would be interested what it means and compares to Monahan. When Trouba signs with the Jets and Murray and Jones with Columbus I will compare that with the Hamilton deal. If they get 7 M X 6 then I will totally be on board that Hamilton was a good deal.

That might be a reason but its not. Reilly had more than 80 NHL games. So now you tell me your opinion why Hamilton is worth $750k / yr more than Reilly.

will you STFU about Hamilton already?!?!?! This is about Kadri and Reilly and all you can do is talk about Hamilton. Why not start comparing Kadri to Frolik while your at it like you do in every other thread.
****
As for the actual signings, these are good and the leafs are trending upwards IMO. They're pretty much starting over and identifying the guys they want to keep around and getting them at good deals. I think their scorched earth rebuild will be done right with the guys they have in charge.

Dougie Hamilton has been more productive than Reilly, Jones, Trouba and Murray in the NHL so far.
He's also done it with less ice time than those players.
Hamilton - 260 games - 0.48 ppg
Reilly - 236 games - 0.39 ppg
Jones - 240 games - 0.35 ppg
Trouba - 211 games - 0.34 ppg
Murray - 160 games - 0.31 ppg
None of those players will get $7M X 6 deals, and nor should they.

A quick glance at the thread and it doesn't seem that too many posters have made the comparison to Monahan and Kadri. Clearly Monahan is a better player and a better team mate but I can see this being a solid starting point for Monahan's deal.
The added quality of a player like Monahan is worth what? An extra mil a year? $1.3? Every market is different with different plus/minus for everyone. If you look at a contract like Barkov's at $5.9 AAV that's a contract with no state income tax. If you look at Canadian players who play in Canadian markets the difference in currency is really something that's an added benefit.
No matter what the contracts are for our young guys I hope they are affordable for the team and that the players continue to produce in terms of points/play as well as success on the ice. In sports today including the NHL everybody is getting the big paydays with very little to back up in terms of playoff success and championships. What teams like LA and Chicago have done in recent times is impressive. For these teams with players who have won in the regular season, won multiple times in the playoffs and then gone on to win 2-3 championships makes a lot of those contracts worthwhile. Not every contract is worth the $$ but if the team is selling out the building, bringing in boat loads of playoff revenue every year and increasing the asset value of your team via championships its an easier pill to swallow.

Further to this, in their contract years...
Hamilton 10G, 32A, 42P, 72G, .583 PPG
Reilly....... 9G, 27A, 36P, 82G, .439 PPG

I actually think Calgary can use a guy like Kadri on their team. He's like a Marchand wannabe with less skill.

Because you are so well-versed in his character and growth to qualify it.
I'm not gonna pretend I know a ton about his character but on the day he and Gio got into it Colborne only had good things to say about his former teammate, someone he got to a Calder Cup final with in the AHL.
