Some North American people.....I think many don't realize what a big deal this tournament is in Europe. Denigrating it is a fairly NHL-centric point of view to take. I get it. Just don't think it's an entirely accurate representation.

If it wasn't during the NHL playoffs, I think more people would appreciate it. And I get that, if more countries were able to send their best teams it'd be really neat. Just sucks that to people here, it's a tournament for players that don't make the second round of the playoffs

I have a feeling that Team Canada for the World Cup maybe asked bubble guys like Gio and Brodie to NOT participate. It's not the same crew as Hockey Canada, which is involved with the IIHF tournaments. So to me, it seems that TC would want their potential players to refreain from going to the World Championships to keep themselves fresh. Imagine Brodie/Gio playing 82 game season, World Championship, And then World Cup. That's a lot of hockey.
