I have to agree with Goring. The ref must have missed the play, saw the stick on the ice and made an assumption. That's the only thing that makes sense, although it is a poor excuse.

I love how Jagr has been playing in the league for 6 years before Ekblad was even born. That is nuts.

If Florida got some solid goaltending they would be winning this game

The Islanders are the first road team to win a playoff game so far.

Wait, did the game seriously not sellout? When's the last time that happened for a playoff game? I honestly don't think I've ever heard of that.

Wasn't as bad as it sounded in here, but still.....yeesh.

Attendance: 17,422 (90.5% full)

Cali; did they jack up the ticket prices considerably from regular season?

Nope, not as far as I can tell. My prices were pretty much on par with the regular season face value.

I have no excuses. Perhaps because it was an 8 pm start on a weeknight, but that's still pretty lame to not sell out. I'm disappointed.

However, those who were there were loud and enthusiastic. Hope it gets better as we go on.

Luongo didn't make a tough save all night. Pretty awful for him. The team only gave up a handful of scoring chances, and the Islanders scored on just about every one of them. Sure, they could have been a little more airtight defensively, but they were carrying the play all night and there was little extended defensive zone time.

On the other hand, Greiss made over 40 saves to keep his team in this one, many of them of the very difficult variety with lots of screens and deflections. He flat out stole that game for the Isles. Happens sometimes in playoffs, but I doubt they win another game playing like that.

No rest for either team as they go back it tonight and it will be interesting.

The crowd that was there was actually pretty loud, but yeah, all the empty seats was not a good look. I noticed it looked a lot fuller later on, but I'm sure that was due to people in the 2nd & 3rd tier seats seeing all the empty lower bowl seats, saying "F this" and moving down.

Looks even worse tonight. Disappointing.

Edit: I looked up game 5 on ticketmaster. Looks like half the building is currently unsold, including nearly the entire 300 level ends.

Brooklyn looks to have only a couple hundred seats left for game 3, most of those obstructed view.

I think it looks less empty tonight, definitely not full still.
