I think Hartley will get next year at least, which would be the 2nd of his 3 year deal. If the Flames fail again, he'll probably get canned. As noted in this thread, he's been great in instilling the work ethic and mentality for the young players, but his technical systems and game planning leave a lot to be desired.

But the Flames DO possess the puck more this season than they did last season according to their shot-attempt % close, which is up around 2%. I tend to agree with you here, but I think it is important to point out that this is a process, and that while the Flames have "played on their heels" a lot this season, I don't think they did it as much as last year.
