or

b) putting the Oilers closer to leapfrogging the Flames in the standings, increasing the Flames chances of a top 3 pick and at the same time decreasing the Oilers chances of a top 3 pick?
I'll take A thanks. Maybe I'm too old school to be a modern day hockey fan, because I have extremely negative feelings for people that cheer for a tank or a loss.

Maybe that's why I'm slowly gravitating away from hockey.

I don't care about draft positions, thats between the team, the prospects available and the scouts.

But I can't ever feel good about a team going out and losing no matter what the circumstance.

The Oilers are a horrible franchise, they find a way to screw things up no matter what the circumstances that are gifted to them. I don't want to see them leap frog the Flames. I can only cheer for a franchise where the owners, players and management feel the same way.

So strong A.

The thing is, finishing lower in the standings does not equal a higher pick necessarily. Are you willing to send a message to your players that the organization as a whole is OK with losing if there is a 20% chance at a top pick?

I've run the simulation many times, and anything can happen. I've seen teams jump 8 or 9 spots.

Don't cheer for losses. It's bad karma.

Karma's not real and if it was, it does not work that way. Otherwise Edmonton would be a half digested rat in the stomach of a diseased cat.

Theres no way in hell we lose to the Oilers tonight lol. Lets face it they'll have the number one pick for the next 5 years, lucky for us it will never help that abortion of an organization.#Borntolose

I know that some people talked about tanking prior to 2010. But I think it has really become a thing in the last 5 years (I'm talking hockey specifically).

It's disgusting.

And I blame the Oilers, and Oiler fans for that.

They are literally ruining the game.

How did I go this long before hearing Rexall Place being referred as 'Rectal" place? I love it.

That being said, I hope the boys destroy the Oil tonight, don't give 'em the satisfaction. There's plenty of game to lose for the rest of the season, this one's for pride. Staple those chumps to the boards.

The Oilers are starting to fancy themselves as a tough lineup these days with Maroon, Kassian, Hendricks, Nurse and Gazdic on the roster. I think we see a spirited old school battle of Alberta tonight.

Kassian is horrible he's devolved to nothing but a goon, Maroon is incredibly slow, Nurse has no feel for the game, Gazdic is slow.

The Oilers are slowly moving towards one of the slower lineups in this division. They've got some nice speed on their top two lines, but Draisatl is slower then a plugged up poop.

It just seems that the Oilers are out of touch with todays NHL.

With these few games, left though the Flames have to start setting up for next year. That means that if any of these idiots go after our skilled players we need to punch McJupitorJones right in the mush.

After the 1st line, that looks really ugly. Treliving has a lot work ahead of him if he wants this team to make the playoffs next season. Sign/trade a RWer, hope they can draft one of the Finns or Matthews. Get a #1 goalie.

I mentioned to my 10 year old son that even if we lose tonight it's Ok because we might get a better draft pick.

He replied "It's never OK to lose to the Oilers Dad"

Guess Poirier was kept up because they thought someone might not go? Have to figure he goes back down sometime today.
