Festool is to tools as Bose is to speakers.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the responses.
I went into KMS today hoping to take advantage of their trade in program towards the Milwaukee FUEL M18 2pc combo kit. https://www.kmstools.com/index.php?m...ucts_id=117292
Unfortunately the Ryobi tools I wanted to trade didn't qualify as professional grade or whatever. I wasn't really surprised but my buddy wasn't too happy about it and argued for a bit. It was funny.
I ended up getting some other Milwaukee tools at home depot but I need to do a bit more research on them before I keep them. I think this is the kit I paid $299 for. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee...22CT/205846385
I also got this saw for free. https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.m...000694323.html
My buddy was trying to sell me on the Rigid stuff at Home Depot. He's pretty handy and has done lots of home renovations etc. and seems to think it's pretty good stuff. It's been his Dewalt stuff that's made me realize the difference good quality tools make. Fortunately it's all still is in my garage so I have a bit more time before I have to make a final decision.

i think you will be happy with your decision, ive had my m18 fuel kit for a few years now, and the stuff is bullet proof. and im an everyday use construction guy.The drill has taken some serious abuse and keeps on goin strong. One of the Torqueiest drills ive ever used, corded or not. Battery life is fantastic. those 4ah batteries will last me the better part of a week.my impact just died but that was because i left it outside when it was raining but i may just trade that back in for some new stuff and keep the old drill still and get some new 4ah batteries

I found that for price vs performance for household use the sweet spot for me is Bosch. I have had Ryobi, Dewalt and Ridgid tools. I bought a Milwaukee drill once, it was very good, but they aren't cheap tools.

This is good to know, thanks! My old Porter Cable drill's batteries are going south and they don't make replacements. Will be in the market sooner or later.
Google tells me Porter Cable got bought out by B&D few years back, shame as it was a good quality unit. 15 plus years and still rolling, just need a battery that does more than a couple hours.

I disagree. Festool isn't for people who only need a drill for at home, but it is worth the money for someone who uses their stuff everyday.
There are some Festool tools I wouldn't by(miter saw), but they have some very high quality tools that woodworkers love.
Don't believe me? Go cruise around on Instagram and check out the profiles of some of the woodworkers on there. Almost every single one has Festool stuff. The guys that do tool reviews all recommend them.
Yes, they are expensive. But we use them in our shop everyday and we feel they are worth it.

I had been using Ryobi for a while too. Price wise they are good value for the average person. Then when building my fence a friend brought his Dewalt stuff over, and left it for me to use. After using his Dewalt tools I went and bought the 20v drill and driver kit on sale for $200.
The only thing I miss about the Ryobi was the magnetic plate on the drill.
I will still hang onto the Ryobi stuff. The one kit I got included a circular saw, vacuum and spotlight. For the couple of times per year I use each it wouldn't be worth buying Dewalt replacements.

RE: the Festool system. I love them. For me personally it was a kick in the nuts to purchase them due to the cost. Now that I have them - I will never look back. For the woodworking I do it has been a game changer. The precision and accuracy they allow for has quickened the production and elevated the quality of my products.
I have never used their drills but rank them at the top simply based off the reputation of their other tools I have used.
Would I recommend their stuff to weekend warriors - no not really, it is not necessary. If you are in the profession and use them on a daily basis. Yes, do yourself a favor and get them, they are far and above the best tools I have ever owned.

Saw that, was thinking of getting it as a secondary. Nice and lightweight for household tasks. I've already got a plug in one and an 18v. But then I ask ,do I really need another tool? Yes. Yes I do.
My Bosch oscillating tool is fantastic, did a bunch of research before buying one. Very useful tool, highly recommended.

I have 3 Bosch 12v tools. A compact driver, an impact driver, and the screwdriver in engadgets review.
Love all of them, pretty much every task around the house been handled well by them. For the tougher stuff I have the 18v Bosch, and I built my 2X3 - 3/4" MDF garage shelving using that, performed like a champ.

In March KMS had a killer deal on a 12" compound sliding miter saw, and Home Depot carried the exact same model, so I took the flyer to them and they gave me 10% off the steal price from KMS. Always a good idea to be on the lookout, KMS gets some pretty solid deals from time to time.

Has anyone used the Milwaukee brushless Fuel 18v (M18) 6.5" circular saw? I have the smaller 2.0Ah batteries, wondering if they are enough, or if I should just go down-market to ryobi and use my 4.0Ah batteries from their 18+ One+ Lithium System...
For occasional home handy man use for projects around the house...

I was looking at the Home Depot price matching policy for the Makita compressor I was looking at. The guy at HD said they only give you 10% of the difference, so $3 off the lower KMS price. I didn't think that made sense and now looking online I've seen other people mention the 10% off deal. I'm going to try it this afternoon with the table saw.
