I voted no because I think he will start on the farm, but I think he could see 20-30 games.

I'd think so. Obviously depends on training camp but I'd say 70% chance.

Could you imagine how magical it would be if Shinkaruk evolved into an impact player (ie: a regular 20-30 goal scorer). It may not be likely, but holding that over Canucks fans' heads would be amazing!

I like Shinkaruk's jam, but he's a little on the small side. The Flames need some size out there. That is why they can't compete with Anaheim and LA. Not enough beef. That is going to hurt the potential for players like Shinkaruk and Mangiapane. Unless they become big scorers like Gaudreau, there just isn't much room out there for these guys.

This isn't Baertschi coming up on emergency recall from the WHL, this is a player with 2 years of AHL experience under his belt. He should be making the jump asap.

He's looked good and has been noticeable but I don't know it I would pencil him in to be on the roster full time next season as there's a big difference with a player just happy to be here, playing out the string, than the intensity of playing games that matter. We can't even be sure the coaching staff will be the same next season.

If he doesn't make it next season, then I don't think it bodes well for his long term progression. He will be 22 at the beginning of next season and most impact top 6 forwards make the NHL full time by then.

I think he'll play a large chuck of games but I don't think he'll make the team out of camp. I think they'll add a couple of new players before adding him but he'll be one of the first call ups.

Dont agree one bit. Having 3-4 players under 6' isn't an issue. Its that the remaining spots are filled by larger bodies that contribute very little offense or protection.

I think he makes it. The Flames needs more scoring from their 2nd line and Shinkaruk should be able to help with that. The Flames won't be able to go crazy in he UFA front and Shinkaruk is a very inexpensive solution to their problem. Play Shinkaruk with Bennett and give them soft minutes next season.

Not writing Emile off by any stretch, but I do not see an explosive super pest in the mold of Alex Burrows when I watch this player.

Actually I liked Poirier last night, he was much improved compared to the game in Arizona.
Both get in on the forecheck, but I actually thought Poirier showed more last night in tight than Shinkaruk did.

Aren't he and Poirier waiver eligible next season? So if they don't make the team they have to clear waivers? If so then I doubt they would waive him

It is pretty early but I voted yes because I think there is more than a 50 percent chance that he will be on the second line as a left wing.

Both are waiver exempt next year.

Poirier was getting under the skin of some Ducks players which was good to see. Also he was noticeable battling in the corners and behind the net. We need to see more and he may be one of those guys that's going to need a good 25 games to get fully acclimated and translate some offense over to the NHL level.

There's still a little too much "Junior" in his game that I don't like but it's not that big of a deal. Bennett has it as well and hope it slowly fads. That half wall fake, side-skate thing he does is way to predictable and he made a couple of bad plays while doing it. He made some really good plays out there and his compete is fantastic though. Still think he needs half a season in the A but he has a legit shot to stick for a few games if he has a great camp.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hunter
Seems like to small of a line for me.
Gaudreau - Monahan - UFA/Finn
Bennett - Backlund - Hunter
That seems more realistic.
Either way, it all depends on how much dead weight we can get rid of in the summer. I would love if him and someone else can push everyone down the line up. Think people are saying he's green just because we haven't seen him develop. Two years in the AHL is lots.
Edit: Haha I guess he's a RW. Why are people talking about playing him Gaudreau then?

I think he has looked OK so far. I'm not sure if he'll make it out of the gate next year, but honestly, who knows what happens in the off season.

Did well in AHL. Has a good attitude. Fills a need. Cap friendly.
I think if he brings the enthusiasm and hard work to camp that he makes the team.
