I'd offer up a 2nd.

At this point, I see him as having Maxim Afinogenov upside, and would pay accordingly (i.e. nothing significant).

Theres not enough soap to wash the oiler stink off him. Do not want, even for free, he's not worth it.

I find it quite amusing that the oilers have the first and fourth picks of the 2012 draft in Yakupov and Reinhart and the other three guys in the top five are Galchenyuk, Murray and Reilly haha.

The "smth" that went wrong could be that the trade deadline was a month ago. So many things to learn in the NHL, Mr Yak.

Only way the Flames get him is similar to how Sven ended up in Vancouver where the Flames have the highest offer by a mile. They aren't going to trade him to Calgary unless our offer is much higher than everyone elses.

Yeah I'm betting he heads out East, the optics of trading him in the division would be too much to risk for the Greasers.

I wonder if Yak + Nurse + 2nd would be enough for Hamonic?

That might be in the ballpark but Yak not adding much value in that trade.

I think the guy could still make it but IMO the Flames should stay from that project. Keep those picks for a goalie trade.

Haha, remember when you thought Schlemko would get over $3mil per year on a multiple year contract this summer?

There's no guarantee Yak would be on one of the top 3 lines in Tampa, with the forward depth they have. Drouin can't even crack the line up because of the depth. Add in the salary difference and the coming cap crunch Tampa is in, I can't see it.
I think Steve is waiting to see if a team wants Drouin over a first round draft pick depending on where they slot.

Doubt it, didn't Snow state that he wanted an equivalent defenseman coming back in a trade for Hamonic?

A mediocre forward with bad hockey sense and is barely over $100k in salary per point scored. Yeah, no. I might risk a 3rd rounder to see if we could turn him around and flip him in a year, but otherwise, not interested.

Exactly. I can see Edmonton taking a third from a non conference rival instead of taking a 2nd from us. Similar to lack last year.

Google translate doesn't do a very good job of translating it, so maybe one of the Russian literate posters would care to post a better translation
You ask and you shall receive.

Quote:
Before the deadline I was packed and ready to go.
-To quote you “I waited for a trade until the last possible moment”.
-That is exactly right.

-When was it you first thought that a trade was necessary, and were there real circumstances that made you believe that a trade will occur?
-There were, and as far as I know, I came really close to being traded. I was all packed and ready to go. Moreover, Igor Larinov and I were given permission to talk to other teams. There was a whole lineup of interested teams; however, at the last moment something went wrong, so I am still here.

-It was written that MTL, WPG, NJD, and CAR were all interested in you, which of them was the closest to making a trade for you, and which did you prefer the most?
-That is far from the entire list – we can name at least two or three more teams. Unfortunately, we can speak all day about who was interested in me, and who did I want to play for. The fact of the matter is that it did not happen and I am still in Edmonton. We will see what happens in the summer after the regular season and playoffs end. There will be a lot more time for negotiations, without the teams pressuring each other by the trade deadline. As a result, a trade will be much easier to make, though, at the end of the day the Oilers organization has the final say on the matter.

-Did you (yourself) request a trade?
-Yes, I did, but I did not request it in person, as my job revolves around playing hockey. I did it through my agent, whose job it is to deal with such questions. However, if there were trade talks, there must have been a reason behind them.

-How did Larionov advise you to conduct yourself in such a situation?
-Just play, and live a regular hockey life. Do my job every day. I tried to practice(workout), work, and simply enjoy hockey. Discussing a trade is simply none of my business(not my job), and I shouldn’t worry myself too much over it.

-Have you considered returning to the KHL?
-No, no, and no again.

-Did you know that CSKA bought your rights from Neftekhimik?
-Yes, I heard about it. I do not have any hard feeling towards my previous team. They(CSKA) perfectly understand that I will not be arriving any time soon, and it seems like they(Neftekhimik?) got good players for me.

-Where are you planning to visit in the offseason?
-England. I am a fan of Chelsea FC. Just yesterday, I was told quite an interesting story about Jose Mourinho, and his time with the team. I really want to visit London, and watch Chelsea live at Stamford Bridge(In this Larionov, who has great connections with the club, promised to help him). I have never been there, and I really want to see it with my own eyes.

Some people here are overvaluing what a 2nd round pick is worth and undervaluing Yakupov. If you were able to pick up a player of Yak's talent in the second round it would be a steal. I seriously doubt they get rid of him for a 2nd.

Google translate conveys the spirit of the thing. Some notable parts of the story:

- the Oilers are the most "nightmarish" club in the NHL
- he asked for a trade via his agent, Igor Larionov and they got permission to talk to the teams themselves
- the named teams plus several other were interested; he was sure it would get done by the deadline
- hopefully will get done this summer
- will not go to the KHL
- sure sounds like he would like to go to a team with other Russians - his friends are Tarasenko, Kuznetsov, Namestnikov, Columbus guys...

I agree with your first sentence but the Oilers probably won't get much more than that IMO. Maybe a late 1st or a 2nd+ B prospect.
