Not exactly how one would want to be remembered.
Check out this one cool trick to have that not happen to you!

The man is dead. Hate him or not, I believe we should show some respect. There will be plenty of time to remember his legacy/infamy.

I know that his Twitter account is probably run by someone else, but it is pretty Rob Ford like for his verified account to send out a tweet 42 minutes ago...

"Probably run by someone else"?

So, you're leaving the door open to the possibility that he's tweeting from the afterlife?

The first reply: Aren't you supposed to be dead?

I admit to know nothing of the city of Toronto politics, but I have heard from people who hate the man that he did a lot of good his first year or two in office balancing the books, or trying to at least.

No idea if its true and too lazy to look up, but these are people who hate him saying he did good.

Show no more respect to the dead than you show the living.

He wasn't deserving then.
He isn't now.

Nobody is dancing on his grave and quite frankly, that amount of respect is plenty.

So because a man was a public figure, he should not be granted some respect in his passing? There will be plenty of time to dissect the man's legacy/infamy, but to publish something of this Ilk comes off as motivated to "stir the pot" in an emotional time. Could have been put up in a couple weeks, but nope, on the same day before the body is cold. That's not making a point, that is cashing in on emotion.

I actually thought the article made some extremely strong points. I disagree with the timing. I preface this by saying i am not a religious person, or a huge supporter of Rob Ford, but I do hold that there should be certain respects given, even to those you oppose.

RIP Rob Ford. Heard from folks that lived in T.O he changed things for the better in that city.

Dunno how to embed, so here is the trailer for the "Rob Ford The Movie" starring Chris Farley.

Dying doesn't grant one respect or erase the bad one has done in life. Everyone can and will do it in time. I've long thought that the adage "Never speak ill of the dead." was pretty stupid.

I feel for his family. A death is a difficult time for a family. That doesn't make the person who died any better or worse than they were in anyone else's perception. Ford was not a good human being and a pisspoor mayor. Dying hasn't changed that.

The first 2 paragraphs of that article are bang on. And if you think that everyone should be granted some respect in their death...do you feel the same about the death of murderers and criminals? Or is it just select "public figures" who get the "give them some respect in death" treatment?

At the risk of repeating myself, no, but him being a public figure has nothing to do with that.

You earn the respect you're given. Rob Ford earned his, and I don't believe death earns him a single ounce more. If Ford was a crack smoking racist, it's no less appropriate to say it today than it was to say it a year ago.

Death is just death.

Did you know him personally?

Because you\re pretty confident in your judgment of him.

That he was a crack smoking racist? Those are known facts he himself admitted.

Nobody knows Rob better than Rob knew Rob, am I right?

And that's all there was to his life? You've drawn your conclusions from that extensive list of facts?

Judging is easy. Not judging takes a bit more work it seems.

Agreed....all drug using people (particularly addicts) deserve derision and scorn. Right?

Judging is part and parcel of the human condition. We do it in small ways, and in big. We judge each other based on what we know, how we interact, and our collective experience. You judge. I judge. That's life. You've judged my response, and here we are.

Yes, I was saying exactly this. Thanks for clarification. I'm just glad nobody suggested that addiction didn't absolve him of his wrongdoings. Now THAT would be crazy.
