Yup. Who sits around the kitchen and pours a bowl of cereal in the morning? I get up at 5:30 for work. If I eat breakfast, I go out and buy it

This is weird. About a month ago I noticed I was becoming too lazy to buy the basic ingredients for cereal. Once it's in my house it's like the only thing I'm not too lazy to "prepare". I love cereal. So this is kind of a low for me. Too bloody lazy eat lazy man's food.

Someone else brought up a good point. It's a very high calorie breakfast compared to its nutritional value.
A nice bowl of cereal is probably close to 500 calories.

I don't understand those people that say it takes too long. Probably 5 minutes from start to finish (including the "clean-up" of putting the bowl in the dishwasher). I guess I find it hard to believe that 5 minutes makes a difference in the morning.
As for health, I have a hard time believing a bowl of cereal is 500 calories. Even with milk, it would be like 300 at best. That probably better than the muffin alternative people have suggested, and it will take you a lot further in the day than a 100 calorie cereal bar.

true but eating calories, having energy and working it off is better than not eating.

Love cereal as a treat, but would never eat it regularly for breakfast. Can't see it being that healthy, that's a lot of sugar and carbs. I always just pound back some fruit and a couple boiled eggs each morning.

Exactly. People are more health-conscious these days compared to 20 years ago. I'm surprised the food guide still suggests 8 servings of grains for males 19-50 yrs old.
I'll usually have a box of cereal in the cupboard for days where I have nothing else but it probably lasts me 2-3 months now. I typically eat eggs or yogurt & granola for breakfast now, both of which are more work than cereal.
I ate cereal practically every day growing up so now I'm sick of it and I struggle finding any cereal I can enjoy.

Yeah I am not sure I would agree with you on that.
There is no doubt in my mind that the men that the soldiers that preceded me were physically tougher.

I really doubt it. Dan Carlin did a stellar podcast on the subject:
Old School Toughness

Presumably you don't have kids. Who has the time (and money) to be buying food every morning?
If I don't get a substantial amount of food in my belly within an hour of waking up, I can't function. And I'm an early riser.
I'm guessing when a lot of people think of cereal, they think of captain crunch, honeycombs, and other sugar junk cereals. You can get whole grain stuff without any added sugar. Add soy milk and a banana and you're looking at a reasonably healthy meal. A heck of a lot more healthy than the breakfast sandwich a lot of people too busy to make breakfast themselves end up eating.
And a lot healthier than skipping breakfast altogether. People who skip breakfast are more likely to be overweight and suffer from heart disease. Instead of eating early in the day, they eat later. Often the equivalent of another meal in the evening. And the stuff people eat in the evenings sitting in front of a TV tend to be a lot worse for you than cereal.

I don't eat at home as I'd rather eat at my desk at work. Get to sleep a bit longer which is good for me cause I am not a morning person.
