Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames lines at morning skate ...
* Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler
* Colborne-Backlund-Frolik
* Bollig-Bennett-Jooris
* Bouma-Stajan-Jones

Ferland appears to be the scratch

This is not going to be good.

Hope Ortio regains 'Oreo' form from his NHL stint last season. Takes off from there. Could use some good vibes in net for a change. Go Joni!

Hey, maybe Ortio will be worse than Hiller yet again and we can have both!
You don't forego the develop of current players in the singular pursuit of one more player.

Play Ortio. And if he gets it going and gets his groove back, one of our assets increases in value and helps our goaltending situation.

If he can't get going, we get the same result as playing Hiller. Plus we have more info on Ortio with respect to making a decision for next year.

Wow, we are really setting up Bennett for success!

Ferland >>>>>> Bollig

He's more physical, more offensive upside, and he's probably a better fighter too.

But hey, Bollig is about an inch taller and 8 pounds heavier. Need that size against the Kings!

Ferland was sorta disappointing vs the Ducks. Even Colborne and Nakladal were more physically engaged from what I saw

Good to hear considering the earlier reports this year

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames Bob Hartley on Ortio: "We told him, ‘Go hard at practice. Make sure you’re showing us you want some starts.' And he’s been awesome."

Ferland trade maybe?

If there's any prospect that I think outsiders might overrate its him. Wonder what his value is.

I think Ferland injury or Bob Hartley being Bob Hartley are more likely than Ferland trade.

Oh ya, like people are always missing sarcasm and you never do it?!?!?!?!
That was sarcasm just to be clear.

It'll be good to see if Ortio really can impress especially against a tough LA team. I'd hate for him to be done with the team but unless he really shows he belongs, his time is really limited here.

Could be that they have absolutely no plan to trade Ferland and are throwing a bunch of guys into the line up that they'd like to showcase leading up to the deadline.

I think Ferland has been a huge disappointment this season. I expected a back and forth battle on finish and contributing offensively. I understood that he couldn't play like he did against Vancouver for 82 games.

But I also didn't see a guy that only played like that two or three times all season.

Also, yeah - what's with the 8:30?

Can Angelenos not mesh with a hockey game starting at 7?
No.

I don't want David Jones on this team anymore. The Jones who scored 20+ goals for two consecutive seasons for the Avs once upon a time is a thing of the past. If he can't be traded, let him walk.

He's just not a good NHL hockey player anymore at all (like Raymond). I wouldn't bring him back at any price.
