Voted for Kodos

Hall, Eberle, Nuge. Undoubtedly the trio I'd have the Oilers build around.

Yeah the Oilers line is handicapped as Yakupov is the only guy of all players listed thats not a very good player and brings that trio down.

I tried to vote for the Dallas set, but it seems I actually ended up clicking for the Flames trio lol
It's not a really fair poll though, because there's a lot of weight put on right now. If this is a 10 year project the Hawks trio and the Pens trio really drop off and the Flames, first Oilers and Dallas trios go higher.
If the first Oilers group didn't have Yakupov, it would be a lot better. A McDavid, Draisaitl, Hall trio would be right up there imo.
Our trio is pretty nice though, especially if Bennett can clean up the streakiness.

Bit of an arbitrary poll, tbh.
Went with the Flames' trio.

If I put RNH in the group with McDavid and Draisaitl, it would be too obvious and most people would probably pick them.
The poll is arbitrary in the sense that it forces you to weigh different factors against each other to come to a difficult decision, which was the whole point. If there was one obvious runaway choice it would ruin the fun.

I'd be interested to see this poll posted on a few different boards around the league and see what comes out.

Flames group would look better with Brodie in there.
Realistically, the best bet to win cups is taking the Hawks or Kings.

I went with Kane/Toews/Panarin, as I think the first two are the best combination of experience, youth, and proven track record. There's at least 1 more cup in their future.
Outside of that, as hard as I try, it would be really hard to not go with McDavid, no matter who the other 2 guys with him are.

I've decided its a 5 way tie between BUF, CHI, CGY, DAL, and EDM1. Keep going back and forth between them. I think our 3 legitimately challenge the other choices.
Interesting question for sure. BUF, CGY and EDM may add another high pick to the stable this draft as well.

I said Eichel, O'Reilly, Reinhart. They aren't there yet, but I believe they'll be dominant in the near future.

If cap is not an issue, I'd still take Crosby and Malkin wit Kessel. Rest of that team sucks.
After that it would be Toews/Kane/Panarin.
Why is Eakin in there? Why not Nichuskin instead of him? They'd be my 3rd choice.
2 Oiler groups, was that just to weaken each group? Hall/McDavid/Draisaitl would be my 4th choice.
Again, putting a crappy player to weaken a group. If Sid is in Pens group then Ovie whould be in Caps group. Rank them 5th.
Flames would be my 6th choice.
Avs/Sabres tied for last. Toss up for me.
And no BigTune, the Leafs prospects/players don't touch these groups.

I'll take the three time Stanley Cup champions, this year's likely Hart, Art Ross, and Calder winners

^Dylan Larkin is winning the Calder. Tied with Zetterberg for the team lead in points and is a +23, which is best on his team by a very, very wide margin. He's 18. Panarin is 24.

I seriously can't believe this isn't a landslide in favor of the Blackhawks trio. Even if Panarin is fresh, whoever you have with the best two way centre and arguably the offensive player in the league, should win.
The fact that we hope Jonny and Monahan become those players should be enough to keep the rose color glasses off.

Really close to me between the Flames and Avs trio.
I went with the Avs to not be a homer.

I chose the Chicago trio but would have liked to have seen a d man (Duncan Keith) as part of the trio.

Some people may be taking salary into consideration. With Kane and Toews taking up what north of 20 million it may be legitimately harder to build a team around them if you're taking the salary cap into consideration.
The exact parameters of the thought experiment weren't spelled out. If they were it might break my tie! How are we filling out the rest of the roster? Is there a salary cap?
Plus McDavid and Eichel were touted as generational players so they could easily eclipse Toews within a year or two.

Without cap considerations I picked the Hawks trio. Hard to argue what they've already accomplished on the backs of Toews and Kane.
It'd be interesting to expand & go younger to compare cores that would include any teams top 3 forwards and top 2 defensemen 25 years old or younger.
Would be tough to top Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Brodie and Hamilton IMO.
MacKinnon, Duchene, Landeskog, Barrie, Bigras?
Barkov, Bjugstad, Huberdeau, Ekblad, Kulikov?
McDavid, Hall, Draisaitl, Klefbom, Nurse?
Eichel, O'Reilly, Reinhart, Ristolainen, Bogosian?
Saad, Wennberg, Jenner, Jones, Murray?
Domi, Reider, Duclair, OEL, Murphy?
Skinner, Lindholm, Rask, Faulk, Hanifin?

If we're including d-men then this is easily my pick. Ekblad is a ridiculous difference maker in every single facet of the game. He's the real deal and only getting better. Considering Barkov and Bjugstad are a stud 1-2 punch down the middle (although Trocheck is having a remarkable year too), those 3 players alone make the young core of the Panthers the tops in the league IMO. Add in Huberdeau and you're laughing. Kulikov is simply a throw in at that point.
