Weird, not what I was expecting at all. I had thought it would be a tiny blue maple leaf in the middle of a field of universe.

I am no Leafs fan but that is a beautiful, classic logo and really evokes the heritage of the sport.

The biggest difference is that they've made the ass cheeks at the bottom of the leaf less subtle.

Apart from being visually attractive and a strong connection to the classic Leafs logo, there's one thing that stands out in that picture - the contrast. It is exactly the opposite of what Flames are doing with their home and 3rd jerseys
(i.e. using low contrast black-on-red combination and putting white & yellow together, which turns to yellowish white when looking from distance)
Here's how the high contrast version of the Flames logo would look like:

Not much change from the 1938 to 1963 logo.

As was noted, there isn't much the Leafs can do without changing the team name and/or team colours. And that won't happen. So not much else the organization can do except live in the past. They're going to sell a million jerseys though, which is the point.

I don't think it's any coincidence these are being released at a time when interest in the team is as low as it's been in decades. The Jays finally had a great season and the Raptors are also doing well so fans in the city now have viable alternatives to watching the same old crap Leafs teams.

Too bad there is no correlation between an AHL team's success and the parent NHL team's success down the road. There are too many players that are great in the AHL that do nothing in the NHL to read much into that. There is probably only 1-3 players on the Marlies that will go on to have any sort of impact on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

I'm blown away by this revolutionary change that no one would have noticed unless they needlessly made a big deal out of it.

It is radically different! Too much change!

I like the 13 veins on the leaf, one for each Stanley Cup. You know that's something that won't need updated for the next 50 iterations of their logo.

Most boring reveal ever.. I was hoping for a big change. (just for a season).. It would be nice to see something new from the original six teams.. The Rangers, Boston and Chicago have came out with something different and nice. It be nice to see Toronto or the Red Wings do something different..
