Okposo would be nice, he'll probably get a buttload of money though.

Good game. I found it funny that the announcers and analysts thought we had a good first. It was a terrible first! Tons of turnovers and three shots. Was happy we survived but the second didn't help us either. Have to be sharper out of the gates

Some positives:

Joe Colborne isn't just on a fluky hot streak, he's actually passing the eye test. That scratching seems to have worked.

Hudler has a goal and 3 assists, +2 in his last 5 games.

Ramo kept the team in it today. That's five games over .930 in his last seven now.

Think the Flames could really benefit from converting Russell into a big, thuggish, defensive dman that can play good minutes and make life miserable for the other team.

There was some compete and flames pushed back pretty good but like many times before it was to little to late. Atleast it's one step closer to a decent draft pick.

Missing 3-4 open nets in the 2nd was the difference tonight.

Pretty sure it's time to see Bennett and Gaudreau together.

Unfortunately, I think with the way Monahan has been playing, Hartley is afraid to split him and Gaudreau up. Bennett is a creator or offense, Monahan is relying on Johnny right now.

The Flames need to acquire three additional top six forwards to become a good team. They will likely acquire one through the draft this year assuming a top 5 pick.

Calgary is struggling because they are not getting the same level of play from the depth as they were a year ago. You had three lines that were all playing at the level of a decent 3rd line. That's not the case this year.

The coaching staff is being blamed somewhat unfairly because the personnel are not playing up to snuff. Is it Hartley's fault that Hudler and Wideman have vanished off the face of the earth?
Hartley didn't need to play Wideman almost 20 mins tonight. That is entirely within Hartley's control. He doesn't need to stick him with prime PP time.

I'd be willing to give him 6 per on a 6 year contract. Maybe even a little more in terms of $ as well.

It would be a quick solution to the 1st line RW problem.

Honestly I don't think any team in the league has 6 legitimate top 6 forwards. Look at any roster. Salary cap era

Yes, but if you're wanting to deal off Wideman at some point, marginalizing his playing time isn't in your best interest either. It's a bit of a catch 22 at this point.

I'm not sure. I wonder what a top 10 list comprised of young, big and physical D would look like.

The cup contenders do....

Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Teravainen-Toews-Hossa

Benn-Seguin-Nichushkin
Sharp-Spezza-Eakin

Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Oshie
Johansson-Backstrom-Williams

Lucic-Kopitar-Carter
Pearson-Toffoli-Gaborik

This is the first time I heard Giordano take ownership of his own actions this season:

Calgary Flames ‏@NHLFlames:
"It starts with me - I've got to bury some of those." - Mark Giordano on the #Flames scoring chances and push in the third

Really? Gio always takes ownership of his own actions. Even Russell does.

$6M is roughly what I had in mind as well. We'd have to dump several of our bad overpaid contracts miraculously somehow.

Raymond + Bollig + Wideman + Engelland + Smid all have 1 year left for a combined $16M. Ugh...
