What a bizarre and unfortunate situation. Another case of the system failing vulnerable individuals.

If he can point and fire a gun if doesn't matter if he is in a wheel chair or not.

As soon as he points a gun in the general direction of the officers he is going to get shot at.

So the guy has a gun, lets try and shoot him in the leg? They arent trained, but they are snipers. This miss his leg, and buddy keeps shooting and kills a cop or worse, an innocent person. Police are trained to shoot at the body as its the easiest to hit.

(If that was a joke then ignore this)

Could this be considered a drive by?

why would you do that and risk making a mess? aim for his gun and shoot it right out of his hands. situation resolved.

There are varying levels of quadriplegia. You can have limited movement in both arms and legs and still be considered quadriplegic.

I want to make a joke here about a wheelchair mounted machine gun. I won't though, because that would be awful.

I will, however, leave all the pieces there so you guys can make the jokes in your own heads. Monsters.

Sad it ended the way it did, but man the bus driver is incredibly lucky to be alive.

EDIT: To make it perfectly clear, I'm speculating he must of had some sort of rigged up device to do this because the probability of a quadriplegic firing a weapon while exiting a residence is pretty much nil. I imagine even if he was a paraplegic, wheeling yourself out and firing would be difficult.
Pretty sure the guy didn't lose the full use of his limbs yesterday. If he had a motorized chair he wouldn't be struggling all that much. Wheel out with one hand, fire a gun "indiscriminately" with the other.

Don't think he suddenly became a fantastic mix of Jason Bourne and MacGyver, leaping into a gun fight with a wheelchair mounted rocket launcher.

Hmm... I don't think it's that simple.

Have you ever played paintball and professionally sniped guys shooting at you without being hit first? I would imagine the stress is worse with real bullets zinging around and you concerned where those bullets end up (unlike the random paint harmlessly hitting things no one cares about in paintball). Missed shots still can cause a lot of damage. You can't let a guy fire willy nilly and calmly shoot away a strategic limb or gun.

This isn't like a game with a briefing before the objective. Police are milling about reporting to a call going, "What's going on?" then chaos ensues.

The amount of people who can't interpret written sarcasm in this thread is hilarious...

That or the number of delusional people who aren't being sarcastic is hilarious...

Either way - it's hilarious!

Whoops. When looking at the quote from Inglewood Jack, yeah, definitely seems more like sarcasm. My bad.

Terrible outcome for a guy that was clearly unhealthy.

Also, really glad his dog didn't have to be part of what went on yesterday.

Read his Facebook and kind of felt bad for the guy before this situation. Now he's scum who deserved to die. Shooting at innocent people is never right or justified,

Having said that the system really failed this man. He was alone and wasn't given the proper support for a guy in his situation.

Really $1400 a month in AISH is supposed to support this guy? That is really sad. Like heartbreaking stuff. I'm a totally healthy male and I could never support my self on $1400. How is a guy who's handicapped and has a service dog going to do it?

I bet this wouldn't have happened if his dog was still alive.

In one of his recent posts he complains about a CPS officer saying they'd kill the dog if he opened his front door while they were talking to him. He clearly was agitated. He also has a beef with Kelly Rhudey of all people.

It seems like that was the major catalyst. The dog was obviously his best friend and probably his major support line. Without the dog he had nothing and likely self destructed.

The term 'mental illness' gets thrown around way too liberally nowadays in my opinion. It's almost becoming chic to have some sort of mental disorder. Having a sad day, doesn't make you clinically depressed, it's just means you are having a sad day. It's human. Mental illness is now becoming the new celiac disease. Everyone seems to be self diagnosing. it does kinda bother me, as someone who has lived through the absolute crippling effects of depression, you know the people that are playing the mental illness 'munchausen' card.

If you want a look into depression, paranoia and isolation, take a read through this mans Facebook profile. I actually really feel for this guy. Whether or not society abandoned him or not, this guy was suffering alone, and genuinely needed help. This wasn't a dude that was sad face because his girlfriend cheated on him, this guy was suffering severely, and suffering alone.

Thank god nobody got hurt, and the police did what they had to do, however in many ways it sounds like receiving professional help could have prevented his life ending the way it did, and it also sounds like a lot of people made some very empty promises to him.

Tragic story. Hopefully he has found some sort of peace.
