I was one of the guys arguing that Yzerman was in the "drivers seat" regarding trade negotiations. We'll see what the return ultimately ends up being but maybe Yzerman just got carjacked.

Im actually move interested now than i was before.
Ive always been a dumpster diver. Maybe BT can can pull a gem out of this junky situation without paying much.
Drouin will have a lot to prove now.

That is to say, Beau Bennett for Drouin

I really really really hope he goes for a package involving cammellari.

Drouin might actually be a good player with a good attitude. It sounds like his agent is the crazy one filling the kids head with ideas.
Why was the trade requested in the first place?

I don't see a fit there. The Bolts already have Callahan.

We took a flyer on Kylington when his draft standing tanked, and he's blooming pretty well so far. Entirely feasible that the Flames may spend a mid round pick to get Drouin.

Because Drouin isn't good enough to play in the NHL yet.
Steve Yzerman knows this. Drouin might.
His agent, however, certainly does not.

Well, after all of this, I wouldn't be surprised if his career goes down the Drouin.

If we get him for a 7th rounder. The price must be super low now

If anything, I'd up my offer a little right now and say it's now or never. I'll bet BT is all over this...

I like it. The young man is looking out for his best ineterests. Yzerman seems old school and that its his way or the highway.
This relationship is now toxic regardless of how you assign blame. In the end, Tampa loses this battle. Drouin will play elsewhere and the lightning will get less than if they handled this differently.

Acrimony with St-Louis, acrimony with Drouin, rumblings of Stamkos having problems with the coach and wanting out...
Ever stop to think that maybe - just maybe - it's a problem with the management in Tampa, and not the players?

Drouin needs to be smarter than his agent in this case...something a young guy should never have to deal with.
At this point, if I'm Yzerman, unless I get exactly what I want in a deal, I don't trade the kid until sometime around the draft or even later in the summer.
Walsh is doing the kid no favors and in fact should probably be fired for this stuff. What a complete moron.

Drouin will end up somewhere else, no doubt. But he's killing his reputation in the process. Corey Hirsh has been relating on Twitter how he was led into the same decision by his agent and still regrets it today.

What was Tampa supposed to do? Give in to a kids demands to play NHL minutes?
