I had a bunch of episodes saved and finally decided to catch up today. Boy am I glad I did. What a run this show is on. It’s the most intense chess game.
Its turned into one of the best shows on tv by not taking itself too seriously
Too many shows think dark automatically equals great, billions went the fun almost pulpy route and became so great because of it
Watching lewis and giamatti is a treat, they look like they are having a blast
I think you're bang on. They have kept it kind of a fun roller coaster ride and chess match without getting super dark but also without getting ridiculously outlandish and melodramatic with a bunch of bad soap opera worthy twists.
Wags is easily my favorite character on TV right now. He absolutely nails every scene and episode he's in. And I think the writers know this because he's getting a lot of screen time this season.
My only complaint is that we need more asian dominatrix, not less. Although it usually comes at a cost, namely seeing Paul Giamatti almost naked.

Ok, I'm just finished episode 7 of the third season. Holy crap this show is amazing.
Spoiler!
the play that Chuck, Wendy and Axe pulled to get the charges dropped was amazing, but even though Chuck tried to justify it slightly by framing the doctor who let his patient died, what he did was such a blatant move of self preservation combined with a really weak justification, that Chuck has become unlikable in a lot of ways. He also left a really wide path of destruction, that I assume is going to catch up to him, he completely destroyed Bryan, nearly destroyed his father, freed Lawrence and did everything in such a Machiavellian style that you can't help but believe that he's going to end up falling in the end.
Its almost funny how the show flipped itself on its ear. Wags and Axe became way more sympathetic, while Wendy and Chuck became monsters.
In what I believe was supposed to be a sexy seduction between Wendy and Matee came off as almost a creepy pedophile making moves on an innocent kid, it was really off setting, and then in the end when she whispered to Matee that their relationship was platonic before ramming her tongue down his throat was actually really creepy.
I'm not sure of Taylor's place in this world, I'm assuming that she's going to make a move to overthrow Axe because Axe isn't part of her model, but a lot of what Taylor did this year was kind of wasted motion as they tried to move her from being a ruthless android nerd to a real human being desperate for human contact.

First of all the choices of the supporting actors. Clancy Brown is unbelievable in any role he does, its hard to believe that he was the Kurgan in Highlander, and was a supporting voice actor in Rebels. But his portrayal as the vindictive Attorney General of the United States and his performance in the firing scene was awesome.
John Malkovich plays sinister so well. You can't help but believe that he's primarily playing the Devil competing for the souls of Axe and Taylor. His stories and analogies are awesome.
I love Maggie Siff and her Nick Sabin was awesome. But she has a spine wait she is the spine for both Axe and Chuck.
I have to admit that I love the Wags character, he's not a bad man, he just takes joy in everything good or bad. Sometimes we should all aspire to be like him, while he's certainly corrupt and slightly insane, he's a cork on the water. Part of me though expected him to go with Taylor, just because of the money.
Sometimes its hard to keep track of the games within the games in this show, but you could just see Chucks demise coming, and now his life is going to be consumed with pursuing his version of justice against Kate, who instantly became the villain and Bryan who I believe is a complete dirtbag.
That last scene with Chuck, Axe and Wendy had me thinking of the villains lair if the villains were actually the good guys.
Its too long to next season to keep track of things, but if anyone isn't watching this show, to me this is one of those shows that you can't miss.

What is exciting about season 4 for me is that the story is going in an entirely new direction. No longer is it Axe vs. Chuck. The show always did well keeping away from linear story telling and created complex characters, but this seems to take it in a whole new direction.

Agreed. I was worried the show would drag out the Chuck vs Axe until they’d milked every last drop and it got boring but they’ve done a wonderful job at shifting the story to something different while not betraying either character.
Chuck is now an influence peddlar trying to build a base. We get a paperclip chase as Chuck turns a New York City park anywhere pass into a concealed gun permit.
The war between Taylor and Axe is getting nasty as they fight over employees, money and Saudia Arabia and poor Wags gets roofied and kidnapped. We also saw the sinister return of Grigor who warns Axe not to mess with Taylor's company.
Such a great show and the brief exchange between Chuck and Bryan was quick and nasty.
