Never saw him in the HP movies, as they weren't my type of movie. But, he was in so many other things, and he was always a standout. Very sad.

Harry Potter is a big piece of my childhood/teen years. Rickman absolutely nailed Snape, was consistently one of the most interesting parts of the movies, and IMO should have been at least nominated for his role in the final film.
Godspeed Mr. Rickman.

Did you ever meet him? What was your favourite Rickman role?
Mine was Marvin.

I've had a hankering to watch HHGttG for about a week. The wife told me this morning. I guess I'm binge watching Rickman movies.

I liked his Hans villain. His delivery of his lines in Robin Hood had me howling. I wanted to smack him and hug him all at the same time, in Love Actually. He upped the whackjob creep factor as Rasputin, which was doubly creepy to me, because in that role, he was the spitting image of a real life creeper in our little town. Loved him in Sense and Sensibility.

Great actor and by all accounts, a better human being. It appears that he had 69 very good years.

Yeah, I did too, and also read it in the voice of Doctor Alexander's voice from Galaxy Quest
I can see him in heaven now
By Grabthar's Hammer and the Son's of Warvan, David Bowie's first concert here rocked.

I'm not a Potter fan, but I thought he was cool as hell as Snape.
He's also good in Love Actually*
* Don't judge me, I'm forced to watch this at least a few times every Christmas.

Love actually is actually a good movie.
Rickman was such a phenomenal supporting actor. Played a quite a variety of roles and elevated the performances around him.

Rickman was, by far, my favourite actor. He elevated every single movie that he was in.
Of course, his Hans Gruber and Snape will be what he is remembered for but I love his role in Truly, Madly, Deeply a movie that will affect you. For anybody that hasn't seen it search it out on youtube.
This week has seriously sucked. Firstly my favourite singer of all time (a little surprising I realise) and then my favourite actor. I'm not somebody who cares one bit for celebrity but both of these passing affected me deeply.
Cancer seriously sucks. Lost my mother in her 50's to this #####ty disease too.

I think Truely Madly Deeply is one of my all time top ten movies, it's criminal that it has all but disappeared.

Feels like it...
Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams) passed away this week too. We loved that show as kids.

Off topic: You can probably buck this trend by explaining how troublingly sexist the film is. If you take a step back and consider what the filmmakers are apparently trying to say about women's roles in romantic relationships, it's pretty bad.

Hahaha my wife sits there making fun of the movie the whole time we are watching. Yet we still watch it.
It's just something I'll never win. Thank God for Rickman in it. And thank God the director had mercy on men watchers and added boobies.

If you seriously want to be that "I don't understand humour, context or storytelling" type of feminist, go right ahead.
Love Actually is a really good film though.
