Barkov looks as good or better than Monahan this season IMO. I think he has a higher potential than Monahan and as much as I love Monahan I think I'd trade him for Barkov right now.
Hard to compare to Jones since defensemen usually take longer to make an impact and he might look twice as good on a team that doesn't have Weber and Josi ahead of him where he could get premium ice time. He's as valuable overall as Monahan IMO.
Barkov may end up the best of the bunch IMO even though he's developed a touch slower than MacKinnon.
MacKinnon to me is basically a middle-class man's Malkin and I see Barkov as a guy like Anze Kopitar. Very different players but I think both are franchise players.
