Something about a 20 year old requesting a trade that raises a red flag for me. We can say he was mismanaged but there's so much behind the scenes stuff that we don't see and know nothing about.

I'd offer Hudler, Poirier and a 2016 2nd for Drouin.
Or go all blockbuster and do Monahan and Hudler for Stamkos and Drouin. K, now I'm getting silly. Time to get off the internet for awhile.

Treliving and Burke were at the ACC watching the Lightning and Leafs earlier in December. Feaster works for Tampa and has some familiarity with Flames prospects. Tampa probably wants to send Drouin to the west.
Just trying to connect some dots in our favor

Tampa deserves this for the tank job they pulled off in 2013. I hope they have to take a sack of magic beans and don't trade him to a team in the Pacific.

It blows my mind that Drouin is the only player from the top 10 of the 2013 draft not playing in the NHL.
The guy was the face at the top of every single prospect ranking during the 2014 off-season.

^ Speaking of magic beans, this sounds like a perfect Oilers trade waiting to happen. A player who excelled in junior, top 10 pick, but desperately wants out and Tampa (who's likely had Drouin offered around to teams for a month). They can trade one of the first rounders that they haven't been able to move because they can't get a return they want.
Now they can trade one of those guys for the new guy, and get the fan base all hopped up about Mr. New player being better than the other 1st round pick that went the other way. Drouin, of course when you listen to the media and fans, will finally find his way in Edmonton, playing with such great young talent.

With any luck, the Oilers will trade Klefbom or Nurse for Drouin.

I wonder if either team would look a trade around Drouin and Johansen? Not out of conference but at least out of division.
Johansen, a 4th overall, has proven a ton more but has had 3 more years to do so. He has reported attitude and conditioning issues and the coach hasn't been the most vocal fan of his leading to a lot of trade rumours.
Drouin has requested a trade, a former 3rd overall, would probably be one of the most sought after 'prospects' up for grabs. I wonder if Tampa was willing to throw in someone like DeAngelo to make up for the difference given what Johansen's already shown in the NHL. Tampa's still has young defenders like Nesterov and Koekkoek knocking at the door while Columbus gets one of the top boom or bust defenseman prospect around to go along with the young forward.

Sounds like Lightning have been following the Blues for awhile.
Blues could spare a dman. Maybe Shattenkirk (ufa) for Drouin? Throw in an add from Tampa side.

I like Drouin. If we can get him for a Granlund, Hudler, or a Klimchuk it's a tradeoff I'm willing to take.
I have a feeling that if he gets traded though, he will be packaged with a cap dump like Matt Carle.

I would roll the dice on him if the cost was reasonable.
He is only 20 years old and has put up points at just below 0.5 ppg.
He hasn't sunk as low as Baertschi when we traded him, but surely his value is diminished.

The stories about him being immature or a dick are interesting for me personally. My one and only experience with Yzerman was when I was 8 years old and it was very similar to the redditt story on Drouin. A close family friend of my parents was playing for the Red Wings and got myself and my little brother into the Wings dressing room after the morning skate at the dome in the 87/88 season. Yzerman was my favourite player and the guy was the only player who did not even acknowledge my presence when I was taken around the room. Every other guy signed my pennant and chatted for 30-60 seconds. I remember being pretty disappointed, I got a signed puck after the game but the guy was kind of a dick. I still got the 87/88 pennant with every autograph except Yzerman's. Point being that Yzerman grew out of that stage of his life as well.
As for Drouin, if the Flames can get him for Klimchuk and I 2nd I think you do it. Buy low, if he reaches his ceiling he would be a great LW for Bennett.

The situation may be the same but Drouin is a million times more skilled than Baertschi. Drouin has a lot to learn still on the defensive side still and really needs to work more on his skating, this coming from a huge fan.

He just screams "Sven Baertschi with more talent". Attitude alone would cause the Flames to hesitate.
