Marchand is a pest but it's not like he was taking cheap shots on Gadreau the night before. He's a very good player that liked to get under players skin. What Prust did was simply a dirty play and there's no defending what he did. He can claim the money was well spent but maybe it's time he looks in the mirror as since leaving Calgary he's turned into one of the dirtiest players in the league. As a Flames fan I'm perfectly happy to wipe my hands of him as the guy that played for the Flames was a different man.

I sure hope either Bennett or Poirier can become a player that gets lots of points, play net positive and makes another team lose its marbles. It's a sadly lacking ingredient on this team.

That's my point. You don't put out the Sedins down 4-0 and you don't put out one of your best players in Marchand that late in the game either up 4-0.
Prust was doing his job as well.
Prust's job is to go out and stick guys in the balls?

Marchand's not that dirty. I certainly don't recall him doing anything closeto what Prust did to him. He's more of a yappy, annoying chihuahua that happens to be damned good at hockey.
He might have done nothing wrong to Prust. But he is not a clean player. To say you would like him on the Flames, you might as well want Burrows on the Flames.

Marchand might not be the cleanest player of the league, but he is far from a Burrow level of dirtiness.

Marchand is one of the top players in the league that deserves a shot like that. He is absolutely the type of player that burrows is, so I can't feel too bad for him.
Prust shouldn't have done it, but Marchand does that stuff without the recipient doing the giant acting job like Marchand did. Marchand is built to play for the Canucks.

Yep, it's funny seeing these teams square off for that reason alone. Marchand bleeds Canuck.
I didn't like the play at all, no room for that in hockey, seeing as it was totally on purpose.. not at all accidental.
His little comments after seal it for me. Prust is a loser.

I disagree. You put your best guys out to close out a game and protect a lead. Marchand, despite what people think of him, is one of Boston's best players. There's a reason coaches have been fined in the past for putting out goons late in a game.
Prusts job is to be physical and throw a hit, maybe fight. Not spear guys in the groin.

Funny. I remember seeing Marchand try to spear Gaudreau during a line change during the 5-4 win against them the other night. Wish I had video, if anyone knows what I'm referring to and has video please post it.
The fact that the Habs (think of them what you will, but one of the top teams in the league) traded Prust for what they knew to be damaged goods-Kassian says all you need to know about Prust. No surprise the Canucks are the the team that bit on him.
We're all human so obviously there is a moment in everyone's life when someone goes far enough to be able to get under your skin and you lose it.
However, part of being a good hockey player is never allowing someone to do that. When a player loses his cool to someone that ticked them off just the right way always faces the consequences with penalties, suspensions, and fines. This of course results in the victory for the person that got them to lose their cool.
Additionally, players that can get under other players' skin is also part of being a good hockey player.
Prust is considered somewhat part of the goon category and him being part of the Canucks is definitely part of the problem.
The Canucks aren't coming back from 4-0, why would you put out your best players to risk them getting injured? If one of the Sedin's was injured in the last two minutes, the question that would be asked is why Brandon Prust wasn't on the ice instead.
The fine was the right punishment based on history, give him another fine for the comments or make him sit a game, either way.
