I'd think that number was closer to 140 than 120.
I've read similar studies, and if I recall correctly, IQ had essentially no correlation at all with success, after you passed a certain "bar". So a low IQ will stop you from becoming a physicist, but if you pass the bar, beyond that it has pretty much no effect, unless you want to become something specific which had it's own "bar", like becoming a professor.

I don't believe this to be true. The higher you go, the easier that complicated tasks become. An economist with an IQ of 130 will be less productive and creative than an economist with an IQ of 160.

Very high IQ also correlates to cognitive 'quirks' like ADHD and OCD that can present their own challenges.

Glad to see his quotes were used in the study, because he is the heroin for idiots.

Yes, it does. I actually did an adult IQ test a couple of weeks ago. I was tested as a kid, but I wanted to understand the process a bit.

It was interesting, especially when you read up on things like the Flynn effect.

A high intelligence also makes it more difficult to work, communicate and empathize with people who are below your level. A difference in IQ of 50 points could represent a fundamentally different perception of reality between two people.

I've met plenty of smart people who've torpedoed their own potential because they've allowed their intelligence to alienate them.

very debatable, many high IQ individuals have difficulty in life. With higher IQ comes more cognitions, more emotions, more thoughts and more pressure. There are a lot of incredibly intelligent people that never amount to much and a lot of 110 IQ people that succeed over them because in some situations a high IQ can be an obstacle.

Anecdotal I know: smartest guy I ever knew had a 175 IQ. Accepted full scholarship to Harvard out of my high school, he went on to become an alcoholic drug addict carnie. Then he became a hobo riding the rails for a while, not sure where he is now. His intelligence was insane, wouldn't study for anything got 99-100 on every test. Wrote high school papers that got published in scientific journals. Disappeared into the ether.

IQ measurements are pretty inaccurate at the tails, but point taken. I would never go so far as to say everything is easier for people with high IQs. I tend to believe that a general mix of different cognitive levels - instead of US-style cognitive stratification - creates the most beneficial type of civic society.

Any scale of human value based on IQ is worthless and disgusting.

That said, to downplay the benefits of higher cognitive abilities is a mistake.
