A nice PP goal on the rebound by Eberle to bring the Oil back to within 1, but some "Ole!" defending by Davidson on Kane, and the 'Hawks are up by 2 again

Anisimov has 6 goals? That looking like a good trade for Chicago. All the sudden they have a few Russians.

Sekera with a nice goal through a great screen (I think by Miller) with Talbot pulled, to drag the Oil back to within 1...but then, they have to take a penalty to prevent a Hossa ENG, and completely fail to play any Defense on the 'Hawk PP...4-2 Final...Anisimov from Kane and Hjammer for the PP tally.

As much as I liked Saad, Anisimov seems to be the #2 Center that we have been missing for years...

Edit...BTW, the 'Hawks appear to have gotten a couple of "stable ponies" for Panarin, who speaks so little English, that Anisimov or Tikonov have to translate Q's instructions on the bench.

That was some serious Oilering on the 4th Chicago goal.

Face-off to the right of Talbot... drop the puck... Chicago wins the FO, pulling it back to the point... all 4 Oilers race forward, hoping the Chicago Dman will pass them the puck... instead (inexplicably), Chicago moves it forward to Kane and Anisimov, who are alone in front of Talbot... PP goal about 3 seconds after dropping the puck.

There was 15 seconds left in the game. What would you have done differently? 4-2 or 3-2 is the same at the end of the day.

Haha, come on Enoch Root, the Oilers provide lots of ammo for poor plays, but Weitz' explanation of that situation is bang on. Play style changes when you're desperate in the third and that's what they did.

The Flames and every other team do the same thing. No sense playing a conservative defensive style off an own zone faceoff when you're about to lose a game.

Conservative no. But they were a brutal fire drill. All four guys raced forward then turned around.

Weitz asked what I would have done differently - how about try to get possession of the puck THEN take off?

Let me ask you a question Jayswin (or anyone else):

Did any of the Oilers look like they knew what their assignment was - or that they even had an assignment - on that play?

Hjammer, who normally gets NO PP time, seemed a little confused...he held the puck, expecting pressure (in which case he probably would have just dumped the puck to the LW corner), just waited, and waited, and let the Oil fly by, then hit Kane, alone, net side...

I love it. Every time I hear it I envision Vancouver losing.

I don't know about you. But if I was drawing up a play with 14 seconds left on the penalty kill down a goal on a draw in my own zone, there really wouldn't be a "what is your responsibility if we lose the draw" because of you lose the draw the game is essentially over. Unless the d man screws up.

I mean I get you're ragging on the oilers but I don't think it was a bad play. It just seems that way because they scored a goal. A pretty nice passing play though I would say.

I saw absolutely nothing wrong on Larsons hit on McCann.

The league won't look at it, and I'm stunned it was a penalty.

I loved it:

"The difference between the Oilers and Hawks tonight were the stars!"

Really? Not Edmonton's other 1st overall draft picks? In 1st over-alls it was still 3-1 in Edmonton's favour without McDavid!
