We should still have some time by the time Hiller is back to decide unless the injury is worse than we think. But the easiest thing would obviously be to demote Ramo unless he turns out godly.

It's actually 10 games *on the roster* or 30 days. The 10 game mark will happen on the Nov 17 game.

Clearing waivers shouldn't even be in the discussion unless we are talking about Ortio.
Nobody is going to claim Hiller or Ramo so it's irrelevant. If a team did, they'd be doing us a favor so if anything we shouldn't be sending Ramo down until he has to clear again.

IMO he passes through waivers easily. His AHL stats have never jumped out as special and he hasn't shown anything with the Flames this season. I simply don't see any team looking at the body of work thinking they need to make a room for him on their roster today because that's what a team would have to do to pick him up.

The problem is the risk. Even Treliving might not see a reason why someone would pick him up, but if they do, it looks pretty rough on us (at least in the short term). If it happens and he fizzles out regardless, no harm no foul, but it's a big IF to put on someone you've invested 6 years in.

So did Engelland, but Brodie played fine on the left side with him. Once Dougie really hits his groove I expect those two to be our top pairing - especially if Gio is still underwhelming.

I think we'll slowly see them transition together. Already seems like Hartley will be using them on the PP which was successful last game.

The way we speak of Ortio at this moment is reminiscent of Sharks fans in 2002-2003 and the start of the 2003-2004 season. In 2002 Nabokov was holding out. This up and comer from Finland with fantastic reaction, quickness and mechanics, was given the start, and after 2 horrible games, the Sharks caved and paid Nabakov his ask. Kipper stuck as a backup for the rest of the season and performed reasonably well, leading to people believing he was a career backup.
The next season another up and coming Finn named Toskala arrived. Kipper wasn't waiver exempt so they dealt with the "3-headed monster" until a trade came up.
What nobody realized was that Kipper was a slow starter, and that the Sharks had traded the best of the three.
Ortio, even in the AHL, has been a slow starter. It hasn't helped that he hasn't gotten games. Be patient.
Also, for the record, I think Ortio has only had one start, and one poor game. If I recall correctly, the other appearance was shutout relief work in a blow out. But please correct if I am wrong.

Two starts, NYI and MTL. Was okay in Islanders game until the third and was putrid against Montreal. I still think he's our best bet though.

It's 10 games played.
Since we're talking about goalies, I don't know if a game dressed and on the bench counts as a game played in this situation, but it usually does not (a goalie usually doesn't get credited with a "Game Played", as defined by the CBA, unless he played a minimum of 30 minutes in the game).
