But that was before McDavid looked like a superstar. I reckon that's gotta be good for a few more goals.
The more I watch the Oilers, the more I feel that pressure to get better the Flames must have felt in the 80s.
We're going to need more than Gaudreau (as if we don't already).

A back breaker for Anaheim. I think Boudreau is gone tonight.

Maybe we pump the brakes a little? McDavid isn't scoring 50 goals in 39 games.
He's on pace for 82 points. Obviously a seriously great total for a rookie, but it's not other-wordly like many people think.

Still a super high pace in this MTL/VAN game. Fun to watch. Interestingly Vancouver appears to have no 2nd line or 4th line - they have the Sedins, and then three third lines.

Agree with that 100%. Both teams playing well.
Which I don't care for since I wish only ill luck on the Canucks.

He might be other worldly unfortunately. Not inconceivable he competes for the Art Ross as a rookie.
I hope he hates it there.

Come on Habs, get one this period.
Good thing I have the volume low so I can't hear Garrett.

Edmonton did not deserve McDavid at all.

It's the acceleration though that's so scary.
I watched him in Penticton and there were brief flashes. Then he seemed to struggle in the preseason and his first few NHL games, so much so there was hope he might not be that great after all.
Then he played the Flames and broke out. Since then he's looked fantastic, and he's made his teammates tiers better too. He's an impact player less than 10 games into his career as an 18 year old.
Unfortunately for us, I think he probably is Crosby good, and a culture changer for the Oil. And he's still not old enough to drink in the US and some provinces.
I always enjoy seeing a phenomenal young athletic talent emerge, but it means the Flames are going to have to counter it in this case.

The Canadiens don't look 9-0-0 good. Everyone goes on hot streaks and cold streaks. this gives me comfort as I know the Flames can't possibly be this bad the entire season.

Canadians end their streak. Time for the Ducks and Flames to start theirs?

What a weird night on the OOT. The Hurricanes and Red Wings played their 3rd game against each other in 17 days and that is it for the season. The Hurricanes won 3-1, the road team won every game. The BJs-Devils game looked to be a snorefest as it was 0-0 heading into the 3rd period. The BJs scored 2 quick ones halfway through the period and won 3-1. The Kings win their 6th straight by scoring 3 goals in just over 4 minutes late in the 3rd period to break the tie. Florida wins 4-1 over the Avs. The Panthers had 3 PPGs and 1 SHG, Landeskog broke the shutout with 57 seconds left in the game. Jake Allen gets the 26 save SHUTOUT as the Blues the Lightning 2-0 with the empty net goal. The Bruins made road kill of the Coyotes, 6-0 Boston! Kreici with 2 goals and Rask had the 24 save SHUTOUT. The Flyers tie it with less than a minute in reg time, but the Sabres win 4-3 in OT. Anaheim's players looked like sitting Ducks after they built up the 3-0 lead. Wow, they were brutal and were shot down 4-3 in reg time, nice come back by the Stars. LOL Oilers, they lose again, 4-3 in reg time to the Wild. The Habs did look out of it and I thought they were going to be blown out of the building 5-0 at the end of the 1st period like they did a few years ago. Canucks take it 5-1 with the rookie McCann scoring 2 goals.

At age 18, McDavid's already their best player (insert gnashing of teeth here). No coincidence that the coach had him on the ice at the end of their last two games and it was him who nearly scoring the tieing goal.
