Production aside I'm just relieved he plays like a dickhead. The entire first line and our top 3 or 4 defenseman are gentlemen nice guys.

Anyone who's underwhelmed by Bennett this far needs to get their expectations in check. He's doing the same things that made him successful in the playoffs last year but the offense hasn't come yet.

Regardless, he's still being a hound on the puck and is relentless.

It's been mentioned above, but right now he's really suffering from trying to play a man's game in a teenager's body.

Someone said he needs to put on weight. While that's true, it's not that simple. His body needs to grow as he's still 19 and has a couple years of growing to do.

He's finding he can't be a bull in a china shop against 6'4 220 lb defenseman, but he's still trying.

It will come. This is a player that won't reach his potential until he fills out his frame.

I could see he was getting under the skin of Quincy big time last night. I think the points will come but I won't lie I had outrageous expectations for the kid so I am disappointed. I will concede though that is my fault thinking he was going to come in and completely light it up as a 19 year old that missed most of last year

As said for Bennett, it's a learning process. He didn't exactly shine in his first OHL season either with 40 points in 60 games. I think he's more concentrating on learning the centre position in the NHL than padding his stats. Everyone develops differently and it may take him a year or so to get comfortable.

That's nice hyperbole. Should we not discuss anything? Who said they're giving up or have soured on him? Can we not ask a tough question and discuss possible reasons for show start? These kinds of posts are super annoying

And it's been 7 games btw

I love his game. I want to see him at center, have a tough winger (not Raymond) and a scoring winger with defensive mindset (not jooris). Shelter his minutes. Give him some PP time.

I prefer him as a winger. And with all the young talent we have at C I don't really have an issue with him spending his rookie season adjusting to the NHL from the wing, where his mistakes will be less detrimental to the team.

That's not to say he doesn't have the potential to eventually be a top line centre, but his game naturally suits playing LW right now.

Also, who mentioned Bennett & Fata in the same sentence earlier? That deserves a lifetime ban. I'm sorry to say, but it does.

Took a few games for McDavid to score this year. I am more than willing to give Bennett a few more games lol.

Fans say Sam falls a lot? If you were 18-19 playing against men in the NHL you would too. Monahans first year here he fell a lot, then got bigger and fell less, now even bigger and he is making people fall.
I am sure in two years Bennett wont be falling often.

We need to find a hockey mom some where that gives birth to 220pound gifted centers right out of their mothers whom. Till we find that we will just have to wait for young men to mature!

Or the robot hockey league with weapons!

No concerns but he did show more offensive flair last season than he has this year.

No worries though, he's young and the very positive thing is that despite not scoring or showing some of that creativity, he is noticeable with his physical play and not making defensive mistakes, which bodes well.

Bennett is a mini Perry playing centre. What a player he's going to be.

Its actually been 6 games this year for Bennett btw

Not that it matters you just seemed to have to point that out and correct the first poster so i thought if your gonna give him a hard time you should at least get it right.

#Flames projected lines vs. #Rangers: Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler Colborne-Backlund-Frolik Bollig-Stajan-Jones Bennett-Grant-Jooris #NYRvsCGY

That 4th line does nothing for Bennett's game - wth is he playing wing on a line cenetered by Grant? Hartley is maddening sometimes

I think the 4th line is the bollig/stajan/jones line. Jooris has been one of the better forwards for us early this season, he's been a speed demon and hasn't been afraid to throw his weight around - just ask Mike Green - Grant also had a pretty good camp/young stars tourney and is off to a hot start in Stockton. I think this 3rd lind might be an annoying line for the Rags to face tonight.

Cause its a road game against one of the best teams in the league and Hartley is more worried about the Flames' game than Bennett's?
Also, good point above by HJ
