I'd rather watch the 2013, 2013-14 Flames right now. Even that team was better than whatever the Flames are displaying now.

Can't even get excited about a potential good draft pick either, you just know this team will get shafted in a lottery situation. I'd bet money on it.

This is the worst I've ever seen the Flames play.

Worse than Brent Sutter. Worse than the young guns. Worse than the post-Iginla years. NOTHING is clicking and the team looks like a disorganized mess.

I don't even know what to point to as the culprit. The reason this team sucks right now is everything.

This team is pretty horrible right now but this hamilton hate is getting pretty ridiculous. He is a 23 year old kid coming from a completely different system and now being asked to play top line minutes in a system that he is just starting to know. He clearly isn't ready yet but unlike jay bo, he is still very young. Once he gets 2nd pairing minutes and the pressure if off, he will improve. Patience is hard

The moment the lottery changes for the better, the Flames are the team that gets hurt by it.

And it was a change that came about because of the Oilers.

His entire, 183 game career.

I'd be more concerned if they were playing their best and losing. Now they're just playing straight up bad and losing. They can be a lot better.

The question is when will we see it, and will it be too late to save their season?

They need to get away from home. I really wish they had a 6 game road trip starting now. Playing bad is one thing, playing bad at home with added pressure doesn't help at all. Worst start in franchise history at home, IIRC. Ugly stuff.

As much as I want to see Ortio, unfortunately, he doesn't play defense and score goals.

We need to figure this out.

We could be 0-7 like the BJs. So it could be worse.

Something needs to be done and I don't know if a trade or something like that would do. Start benching anyone who has a bad game. Sit wideman for making dumb plays, bench Hamilton for his soft play. Bench Ferland for being invisible, why should he play and not Granlund?

This team is a mess. Nobody has an idea how to fix it.

Bright spots, JG, Monahan, Frolik and David Jones. All have been good so far this season.

Maybe Gio will have more freedom now getting away from Hamilton. Come on Gio, pick it up.

He has not been this bad at any point in his NHL career. If he was this bad in Boston, why were their fans so pissed about the trade?

He, along with pretty much everyone else on the team, has had a really, really tough stretch. He'll figure it out though.

Spoiler!

Brutal. Just brutal.

Hopefully the long stretch of road games coming up is the kick in the ass the team needs. Something has to be.

Here's what I'm thinking for next game:

Giordano-Nakladal
Kulak-Morrison
Smid-Wotherspoon

Granlund-Monahan-Shore
Gaudreau-Bennett-Hudler
Frolik-Backlund-Jones
Agostino-Stajan-Jooris

Ortio

Gio started to look like his old self again as soon as he wasn't playing with Hamilton. As many have stated already it doesn't look like Hamilton is ready to be on the top pairing, Hartley can't force it.

Goaltending is brutal. You gotta go with Ortio next game.

Yup. If we finish 30th I'm literally putting $500 on us drafting 4th. That way I can at least get something out of it.

Hamilton sits on Friday. Don't care who gets upset by people ragging on him, he was playing top minutes in Boston. This isn't a situation he should be overawed by. Gio has been pretty poor, but thats still a decent calibre of D man to pair Dougie with. The lad is softer than Raymond, its embarrassing and shameful to watch. He has to sit. Only way he'll learn. Call up Nakladal and give him bottom pairing minutes with Kulak. Move Engelland up alongside Gio and drop those 2 to the 2nd pairing.

Oh and I think people are kidding themselves if they think dropping Hamilton to the 2nd pairing once Brodie is back will solve his issues. He might feel less pressure to perform, but he'll be paired up with Wideman/Russell, who are both lesser d men than Gio/Brodie. If he can't figure it out with Gio, I don't hold much faith that he can figure it out with the other 2. Plus he'll still be facing some top forwards and still be getting well over 20 minutes of ice time a night. I don't see that solving anything.

Upfront, god knows. Only positive here is that they are contributions from the top line, whoever it may be. Johnny has 7 points, Monahan has 3. Another point for Frolik, Gio off the mark. But the big issues are Backlund(invisible yet again), Ferland(needs to just start hitting, forget making plays and the like). Bollig is just awful, the guy can't play hockey. Great in the room, yeah, wonderful, so was McGrattan, doesn't mean he needs to be dressed for every game. What we need to see though is greater intensity. We saw it up until they potted the 5th in the 3rd period. The players looked engaged, grabbed a goal and I did wonder whether we'd see a comeback. But the 5th killed it stone dead.

Thing is, I don't even think a win would solve anything. Win or lose last season, we were in most of the games we played. Other than the Vancouver(road) and Winnipeg games this season, we've been battered in all the others. Not even been close. Season over? Probably not, but it's extremely worrying.

He's 22.

TWENTY TWO.

The entire system is broken right now, and he's trying to do too much.

All of our players did not suddenly begin to suck - this is a team wide issue. The system isn't working, because it has been scouted.

Every single player and coach on this team needs to adjust.

So, you're putting half the team on waivers to make room for all these call-ups?
