Bouma got hurt, but Backlund and Bollig both played less than 10 minutes. The coaching staff is seeing something with Backlund, too.

Flames were not too bad but a whole lot of flinging the puck away into areas where they thought someone might be. If they look after the puck a little better they will win.

Should add, I liked Frolik's game again tonight. Really solid player.

Lots of familiar patterns. Terrible second periods, playing from behind in the third, relatively ineffective method (stretch pass and tip at centre ice) to break into the offensive zone, etc.

Just came to post that. His fore checking was amazing tonight. Created some grade chances. Also, defensively sound. Nothing wrong with that guy at all. Slap him and Bennett with Hudler and I think a lot of things will happen.

That Jones goal was all about Froliks play and the mid air take away.

-Frolik was the Flames best player tonight, bar none.
-Bennett was amazing. I just hope he's not Matthew Lombardi 2.0, his finish isn't really there.
-Until the last five minutes, Monahan got killed tonight in every way.
-Gio seems to have no power on his wrist shot.
-Hamilton sure isn't an impact player. I miss Brodie so much.
-Can't honestly say I was expecting a win. Just hope we beat Edmonton and Winnipeg. Those are games I would hate to lose.

Liked Gaudreau and Bennett tonight. Frolik also made a nice play.

I feel its only a matter of time before Bennetts line gets clicking. They are looking better every game.

Our stretch pass needs speed. Hope we see both Jooris and Granlund in if Bouma is hurt.

Ferland and Backlund were pretty bad.

Gio is not himself, and we really miss Brodie.

Frolik and Bennett looked good. Gaudreau could have had four more points, he generates so many chances.

Literally can't wait to see Granlund in the lineup next game. Will help our defensive game. *not to be confused as a defenceman.

For all the hype, Hamilton has been quite disappointing so far.

Hamilton has looked out of place but you can see his talent, his vision and his skating so it's only a matter of time before things click for him and the system. Hopefully it's soon though.

Giordano looks off but that should be expected as he's been out of NHL action for quite some time. It'll probably take him until end of November to get back to where he should be.

Bennett and the second line has its moments and Frolik looks good so I'd expect them to break through in time as well.

The difference tonight that I saw was that the Flames were dictating a lot of the play (despite the shot count) compared to last year.

I see a really strong team once things click and the lines and new players find chemistry.

Hamilton looks more like a Wideman replacement than a future #1 D. Hope he picks it up soon.

Disagree about those saying Hiller had a good game.
He was great in the first but those two goals by the rookie from long distance were TERRIBLE and super deflating. Bring on Ortio for at least one of the next two back to backs.
Bennett looked good but hit the FREAKING net.

His defensive game has always been average at best so hopefully he starts bringing the offence. He's still young and can learn the defensive side better.

My level of panic is still pretty low. I think that this team might stumble out of the blocks but by mid November we will look miles better. Gio will shake off the rust, Brodie will be back and Hamilton will adjust. These three factors alone ensure that we will get better. I also expect to see Frolik and Bennett make huge strides in the next 6 weeks. I honestly believe that we will be absolutely fine.

I hope someone posts a gif of that Gaudreau takeaway on that rookie defenceman. Was a thing of beauty.
