Damn, I'm well back in line to borrow the eBook from the library. I'll try and read it within October though. I'm always glad to get suggestions for a next book to read.

That's only for library books though, no? I assume something to do with licensing agreements. Makes sense. If they had unlimited copies who would ever buy a kindle book?

For those of you who prefer to listen than read, I recommend the audio book for this one.
Narrated very well by Will Wheaton.

I added it to my hold list on July 20, and it still isn't available for me. I'm number 2 in line on 10 copies. Hoping I get it this week.

Any chance we can plan some books a few months in advance for the future books? Just to give us library users a chance to pick it up and have it ready to go?

I'd nominate Unbroken or The Art of Racing in the Rain, for those interested. Unbroken in particular is an amazing story.

I'm hopefully going to pick it up tomorrow, but I'm currently in the middle of another novel at the moment.
When do we need it finished by?

Yeah, if you grew up in the 80's and played video games you'll definitely love it.

Here are a couple nominations: (are we allowed to nominate books too?)
Station Eleven - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...ersion=service
An audacious, darkly glittering novel set in the eerie days of civilization's collapse, Station Eleven tells the spellbinding story of a Hollywood star, his would-be savior, and a nomadic group of actors roaming the scattered outposts of the Great Lakes region, risking everything for art and humanity.
The Painter - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...ersion=service
Jim Stegner has seen his share of violence and loss. Years ago he shot a man in a bar. His marriage disintegrated. He grieved the one thing he loved. In the wake of tragedy, Jim, a well-known expressionist painter, abandoned the art scene of Santa Fe to start fresh in the valleys of rural Colorado. Now he spends his days painting and fly-fishing, trying to find a way to live with the dark impulses that sometimes overtake him. He works with a lovely model. His paintings fetch excellent prices. But one afternoon, on a dirt road, Jim comes across a man beating a small horse, and a brutal encounter rips his quiet life wide open. Fleeing Colorado, chased by men set on retribution, Jim returns to New Mexico, tormented by his own relentless conscience.

I'm somewhat familiar with the European side of WWII, but this got me very interested in the Pacific story. Highly recommended (and also a well narrated audio book).

Here's a couple I would like to add to the list as potentials for sometime in the future. These have been or are being adapted as movies and definitely want to read the book first.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Places_(novel)
Dark Places is a mystery novel by Gillian Flynn published in 2009. The novel deals with class issues in rural America, intense poverty and the Satanic cult hysteria that swept the United States in the 1980s. Dark Places was shortlisted for the Crime Writers' Association Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award and won the Dark Scribe Magazine Black Quill Award for Dark Genre Novel of the Year. It was also listed on the New York Times Best Seller List for hardcover fiction for two consecutive weeks. A film adaptation of the novel was released on August 7, 2015.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americanah
Americanah is a novel by the Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Published in 2013 by Alfred A. Knopf, it tells the story of a young Nigerian woman who emigrates to the United States for a university education and stays for work.
The book was selected as one of the 10 Best Books of 2013 by the editors of the New York Times Book Review.[1] It won the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Award (Fiction),[2] and was shortlisted for the 2014 Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction[3] of the United Kingdom.
