Man it's going to be a great year!
You are correct. He is required to wear one.

Here's to all the Oilers running around to protect baby Connor

I hope just once in their NHL careers, Johnny lines up McDavid and drops him on his ass.

So hit McDavid then watch dumb dumb go after someone and take a stupid penalty. Awesome, you get to take out the oilers golden boy then go on a PP.

Gazdic is such a good fit on the oilers.

I have no problem with Gadzic's comments. He's just saying what most enforcers say. But I hope if there is retaliation after a hit on McDavid, that the refs call it a penalty each and every time. And not off setting penalties.

I'm all for hockey fights, but I hate when a player is forced to fight after a legal hit, and then he too gets a penalty. Screw that. If the league is okay with legal hits, then they need to show it and start only calling the instigator and not the guy defending himself from getting jumped.

Nothing's more annoying then watching a nice clean hit, and then watching that player get jumped by the whole team and still coming away with a roughing/fighting penalty for defending himself.

He is required to wear a visor. He isn't required to fight or make tough guy comments.

Hit McMoses hard and clean, wrap Gadzic up if he tries anything (and gets kicked out). Then hit McMoses again.

Having gazdic in teh oilers lineup is all good, a slow plug to play 5 minutes a night. His talk is all the things he should be saying but really, not many teams will carry a guy like that anymore that will fight him. He can try to get guys to go but they'll just keep skating by him all night long. If anyone has a chance of really standing up for mcdavid it will be on darnell nurse. He'll be the only one that plays that style and will be on the ice with him.

I think Gazdic may dress in some games because McL seems to like having an enforcer in the lineup, but something tells me he will be a healthy scratch most of the year.

As said above this is why us and flames management are so pumped about ferland a potential. Tough guy with hands? Possibly 2 of em (Bouma) if he continues his offensive.

At the end of the day, the Oilers seem to always be behind the curve.

Oh yeah, we're going back to the 80's and we're going to outscore everyone like we did with Wayner and Messer and Andersoner and the boys on the bus yeehaw . . . . fail

Oh yeah, we're going to have a totally soft puck moving defense with no defensive skills, it will be like we have 6 coffeyers on the ice at once . . . . . errrr fail

We know that other teams are getting rid of low skilled dedicated face punchers, because yeehaw . . . upcoming fail.

Its called the 2010's Oilyaz . . . embrace it.

And no team is going to avoid hitting Mcshutdownoilrig, its the way its going to be, and with how fast and mobile defensemen are now, he's going to take a lot of hits in the first month. He might be a generational player, but look at how battered Crosby is, because he takes a lot of contact, and Crosby is a lot tougher and meaner then McDavid, its what makes Crosby generational.

I feel bad for McDavid. I've never heard him say anything even remotely out of line but I hate him because of his team and fans.

Unless McDavid is AHL bound, I can't see how Gazdic is going to hold anyone accountable. Really, if Gazdic is on an NHL roster, he is wasting a space. Then again this is the Oilers... As others have suggested, play McJesus as you would anyone else, then take advantage of the guy that can't skate lumbering around looking for redemption, or taking stupid penalties.

Who can blame Gazdic? Must be tough to stay relevant when the game has passed players of his ilk by.

He's a bad player who is willing to say anything to scrape a fee hundred more thousand dollars into his bank account.

The scary thing is that it isn't even half as bad as Sidney Crosby back in 2005.

...yet.

I don't blame him one bit.

I just find it comical. And actually ridiculous.

As far as the comments go, it does make sense. Connor McDavid doesn't have David Branch's no-touch rules to protect him in the NHL - as Jake Virtanen has already demonstrated - so he needs something to "protect" him while he adjusts. The saviour really needs to sit down and watch a highlight reel of Taylor Hall playing with his chin glued to his chest to see what happens when you fail to understand personal responsibility in a league where you are responsible for your own safety.

For the record, I think Gazdic is an AHL scrub and an idiot for his comments, but in all fairness I wouldnt look too intimidating if I was hit by a freight train either.

Dustin Byfuglien...what do you even say, that guy is a tank.
