Maybe something minimalist, like a big giant circle

How do you feel about statues?
Just take the Lanny and Iggy statues out of Flames Central and put them out in front of the arena.

Was just in Edmonton. They're already working on the McDavid statue. They've replaced City of Champions with an NHL #1 Overall Pick plaque. Jokes on them though because their Schultz statue is on the ice.

Iggy SHOULD be long retired by the time that project is complete.
Give him, Lanny (maybe he wasn't THE guy in 89 but he scored THE goal) and Fleury a statue.
Three guys that represented the club for extended periods of time. Im sure people will stick up their noses at Fleury getting a statue but you can't deny how productive he was here for an extended period of time.
It would be cool if they added Stamps greats as well. Maybe Flutie/Garcia and an Allen Pitts?

When the legend is deserving, the statue will emerge
I agree that only the all-time greats, like Gretzky, Orr and Howe, should have statues.

I think this is perfectly well said.
I the process of how a statue comes to be...
You do not think about a statue and say, "but who?"
You think of honouring a true legend and say, "but how?"

Just take the current statues at Flames Central and put them at the front of the Saddledome/ClagaryNext.

It Depends on both the Statue, the impact to the franchise of the subject, and the pose immortalized.
Deserved
Ridiculous
Sublime
I can't really speak to what or who the Flames should honor...but, it seems sad that the Canucks should honor such a crybaby moment of poor sportsmanship.

I like those coloured statues that the hawks have. I think it would be great to have statues like those around the stadium. They would capture the imagination of kids.

They look kind of creepy. They look too much like the Walking Dead.

The oilers have the statue of Gretzky outside, but they have a lot of busts inside every year.

Slippery slope when it comes to statues
I wouldn't want to go the Leafs or Canucks route
Does Sundin really deserve a statue?!?!? Above average player on a team that was average or below average most of the time he was there = meh and no statue

Historical evidence shows that the seemingly white marble statues of the Greek and Roman eras actually sported a coat of paint to make them look more "alive"... including flesh toned naked poses...
Plain bronze, granite, or marble statues are, relatively, a more recent development in art.

Honestly, I find statues to be tacky. I would rather not go that route in Calgary.

The Flames had a statue but he was traded to the Leafs.
